Hello everyone, I'm new here so just wanted to introduce myself. I'm female in my late -ish fifties, one husband, at home, three children, not at home and a cat who thinks she lets us live in her home. Avid reader, one time lover of long nature walks, now lover of long sits watching nature, enthusiastic but rubbish sketcher of nature and lover of a really good glass of red wine. I have lived with RA for almost ten years. That's me in a nut shell. So anyway, hello!

Welcome t the club we don't want t bed ha ha, hope your pain free at moment
Hi Galaxy I have one of those cats and a husband but just one not at home son. I'm a birdwatcher and love reading and walking. Apart from this recent blipmy RA has been put into remission so still do long walks of the pub to pub variety???
I agree I live with RA too, but don't like red wine; although I recently worked my way through the posh cocktail menu on a cruise. Some strange colours and some were vile but some were lovely. lol and moreish............
Welcome galaxy and it is good to hear that you're feeling well at the moment.
I'll look forward to hearing more from you in due course.
Marie
Hello Galaxy59!! I just love your sense of humour!!
Thanks for sharing a little bit about yourself. Now I'll tell you a little bit about me. I'm a 51 year old female with one husband & 2 adult children. 21 yrs &25 yrs old.... So I just have to ask you, how did you get your kids to move out?? lol
Thanks suzannedale. We ignored them until they went away! Seriously, they left for Uni and just never really moved back in. The youngest is 24 and about to start her Masters degree.
Hi galaxy, the first thing that struck me was your humour. Hold on to it, it will help you sail through RA!
Thanks, I will try!
Hi Galaxy welcome.
I think reading your post and seeing your name we may be the same age ( 1959 ) I will be 58 on Wednesday. I live with my husband, my 31yr old son and his girlfriend ( to be fair they moved back in as my husband had to work away to help me ) my 17 yr old daughter and her dog Lola. Pleased to meet you, oh and yes I love a decent glass of red . Linda x
Yes, same age - 58 three weeks ago. Wonderful family you have there so nice to have help around the house. If only to help open the wine!!
Ha ha one husband that made me giggle.I also used to go on 8-16 mile walks every weekend and really miss being out in the wilds. And yes I like the red wine but have to be careful being on warfarin. I'm at at late end of fifties and have brought up 6 children. ..4 are step children thou treat all as my own.eldest grandchild now 22.
Keep picking up more auto immune diseases but am a fighter and won't give in.
I really miss walking, sometimes it's the smallest things in life that make the biggest impact on you. I cried for an hour when I realised I could no longer bend down to do up my own shoes, then I went out and got myself two pairs of slip ons. Like you say - won't give in.
\o/ waves hello. Love your description of life! Did you see the documentary on otters last week? Adorable animals.
Didn't catch that one but I have never met an animal I didn't like. Youngest daughter works one day a week at our local zoo and it has become almost a second home!
Hi Galaxy1959 and welcome to the gang. I reckon you'll fit right in. This forum is cram-packed full of lovely, informed and helpful people and has been a lifesaver for me. A bit older than you I have just the one husband on the go, three children and a small dog who rules us with a paw of iron. I hope to hear lots more from you. Hugs
Jan
Hello. I'm new as well. Same age, with only one of six children still at home. And hubby and Boris the cat. Avid reader as well.
So happy you're doing well. Charlene
Six! That's wonderful, I always wanted a large family.
full disclosure: I only birthed two boys, acquired two step-sons (their mom died), and adopted two teen daughters from Ukraine.
What a wonderful family you have.
Hi lovely .welcome.
One husband of 51 years.5 kids.13 grandkids and 3 great grandsons.and they don.t know what bye means ha ha .lovely .but shattered.
Which part of the galaxy do you live in? I'm in Canada.
Hello
Hi Galaxy. I'm new to both the group and to having RA. I'm 56. I have three kids, four if you count my husband. My husband usually corrects me when I say we have three kids. He usually chimes in, "you mean three fully grown adults that we can't seem to push out of the nest.?" My oldest is actually out of the nest, he's a senior living out of state and plans to start work on his Master's next. Our other two (19) and (23 - a single mom with a precious 3 year old sweetie pie, our first grand child.)
I was diagnosed with RA back in March and so far have only been on Sulpasalazine and Hydrocone 10/35. My Vectra DA is slightly high at 51. My rheumy thinks I may have a parthyroid tumour which is scaring the bejeebers out of me. I'm having some cervical neck injections for the 2nd time on Tuesday. Hoping to get some more pain relief there.
Sorry for rambling and once again hello Galaxy!
