I really sympathise with you. My hands are always in a terrible state all the time and very painful. Have you tried using compression gloves ? I went to see OH at the hospital and was given a pair. They do give a bit of support.

Take care

Trish

Yes Trish I find compression gloves & a thumb splint really help when my hands are playing up!

Maybe you should call your practitioner and move that appointment up a bit.

You are not alone, for 18 months now both hands have only partial thumb and half of adjacent finger that work, the other 3 fingers are locked in a permanent hook with the fingers almost touching the inside of my wrist, i grip as best i can by using my thumbs together and between my thumb and 2nd knuckle of adjacent finger. It makes doing anything, even the simplest task so difficult and trying to contort to grab anything causes pain and a lot of breakages.

Sorry to hear that you are having difficulties & pain in your hands but if it's any help I had the same problem. I saw my GP (as like you I had a Rheumy appointment but not for 2 months) he gave me Naproxen for the inflammation & Omeprazzole in case of stomach problems plus said to contact Rheumy to get an earlier appointment or if not he would. Well both worked & now hands much improved & my Hydroxychloroquine has been increased to twice daily. Please go & see your GP if like mine you will get help. Hope you get relief soon. ๐Ÿ˜˜

Hi! I am Hansa. I had the same problems. I could not put my shoes, bra, or some of clothes. I was taking slow release Ibuprofen twice a day. This started at end of March, April,. I understand. I had to wait still July before I saw Rhumotology specialist. They gave me Steriod injection& Methrotrraxate (.Spelling wrong). There are different tablets to take. They will explain to you. Just have wait for them to tell you. I hope its sorted out soon. Take care & Good Luck.

I see hand itherapist regularly. I have quite few things made for me too. Nust keep moving fingers if you can. I have to sleep with few splints made for me.
