I have OA in my hands so can sympathise Denise. What I find helps (as well as my normal OA meds, NSAID & 3 pain relievers) is Pernaton gel, when it's have a real go, it doesn't take the pain away but it certainly takes the edge off within a few minutes. I like it because there's no limit to how often you can reapply it when the effect wears off. I've used it almost like a hand cream at times. Or, if you react better to cold try the wine cooler sleeves you put in the freezer & put your hands in, either just the one like a muff or two, one for each hand? If your pain relief or NSAID isn't touching it ask the Pharmacist at your chemists if there's anything else you could take, write a list of your meds though so he/she knows what may be suitable & won't interact with your prescribed meds.
I hope you get some relief soon, it's misery making. x
Ice (frozen peas for 10 minutes then heat for 10 very hour. Works for my knee. x
Hi Deejojo, I have PsA and although I have pain in all my joints, my wrists and hands are very, very painful. Painkillers don't help. A few days ago my OT tried two different wrist and thumb braces as my left thumb is damaged. These have given me a measure of relief, not pain free but definitely an improvement. They are not the prettiest things but heyho! These braces may help you but be warned when I take them off the pain for 15 minutes or so makes me help. Good luck
Deejojo it sounds to me that he thinks you needs an operation on your hands. Haven't they suggested therapy on them before that darling.xxxxxxx
I have had carpal tunnel done twice for mine but now its PsA or OA. Dont know which but its gradually altering the shape of my hands. I have now found warm to hot water just briefly. It lasts for a while depending on what i'm doing .
Hope it helps hugs to you. XXX

I found bandage to be one of the best things, just bandage your hands not too tight but not loose, it worked wonders for me,the hospital straps were good but you couldn't tighten them, but the crepe bandages saved my life.
