The chaos continues............

I have yet another herniated disc, the L5 this time and because I am on anticoagulants there is no treatment i.e. steroid injection to reduce the inflammation. 6 to 8 weeks and hope for the best. He said massage may help but who has the time or money for that and I hate people touching me so it would only make me incredibly tense, haha and to add to the joy I have developed a lipoma on my wrist right where it rests on the desk all day at work. Nothing he can do about that either. On the intake list again to see the orthopedic surgeon after waiting for two years to be told I had dropped off the list, oh joy another two year wait and also on a lost to see a hand surgeon to try and fix my hand, also probably a two year wait, oh yeah then there is the wait to see the endocrinologist for my hyperparathyroid issue. I seem to lurch from one thing to another, just when I think things might just tick along smoothly for a while. I just want this extra stuff to stop. I have enough going on without these fun things.

I had the same whilst living in the UK and on Warfare. I had to stop the blood thinner but gave myself injections sorry I can't remember the name of the medication I had to inject and the specialist who gave me the injection at the bottom of my spine did an INR test if it was okay he went ahead. The bulging disc did shrink and I no longer have pain in my lower back or siatica pain. It can be done through a specialist.

I am on one of the new anticoagulants so no spinal injection at all ever as it can cause paralysis. So while I don't have to muck around with INR stuff and not eating green vegetables it has other impacts. Damn it. I am on them for life as I had two strokes last year and they found blood clots in my heart so I have to take them til I die apparently.

I have had 2 blood clots both in my legs one behind my knee and one at the top of my leg close to my groin. The medication I take now after being in hospital is called apixaban or Eliquis 5 mg and you do not need to have INR tests as the mediation is self balancing, I take 2 tabs one in the morning and one in the evening. I wish you could have the steroid injections as it really did give me pain relief and I know you are in a lot of pain from all your posts. I am living in Canada now and I am about to have my second infusion next week. I know what it is like to be in a lot of pain, I wish you all the best and hope things work out for you. Take care, Sue

That is what I am on and have been warned by all my Drs no spinal injections or I coukd end up paralysed. I hope you weren't on it when you had the steroid shot. There are warnings all over the pamphlet in the box too. Are your clots from DVT?

I know they work, I had one before I was on apixaban and it worked really well, so wish there was something else they could do.
