Good morning everyone.Well here i am with back ache which is running down my right leg.It is very painful this morning. Yesterday i went to the hospital for to see my rheumy nurse. To be honest it was a waste of time. It felt like a tick boxing exercise. She said my rd is stable and to reduce my mtx to six tablets next week. She didn't do anything re; my fingers and back and she said you have sciatica and chronic pain and more or less said i have to get on with it. I wondered why i even bothered going. I have rd,fibro, chronic fatigue fatigue and now she tells me i have chronic pain and sciatica. I thought my back pain was caused by the discs moving and trapping a nerve which i suppose is what sciatica is. As to chronic pain i always thought that was fibro and i suppose it is,but i just wish i could have a day with no pain. So it seems i have to just get on with it and keep taking the tablets. Thank heavens i have my hubby to support me otherwise i think i could get very depressed with the idea that i have to suffer like this for the rest of my life. Also i have all you lovely people to keep me going and i thank you all for your support.xxxxx
Hospital appointment.............: Good morning... - NRAS
Hospital appointment.............
Hi sylvi there must be somethings in the air at the moment as my back is killing me as well I have a go app next week so I'm going to ask him to refer me for a Mir, take it easy xxx
Hi Sylvi,
Localized excess inflammation is often the major contributing factor to sciatica so having hubby rub in ibuprofen gel might help and taking a short burst of stronger NSAIDs may do it (assuming that you are not already taking them for generalised pain).
Hope it eases soon

Bless you Sylvia it's really not easy for you is it. Thought the warmer weather would make life easier for you. When are you going to have your next infusion for pain that seem to help you a lot the last time you had it done.
Will keep you in my thoughts love me xx
Hi Sylvi, life sure is not for the weak.....I had my PIP assessment yesterday and felt it was box ticking too. Prob a waste of time. Do you find water helps? I mean floating in it? On holiday I went into a seawater pool, quite cold, but after a while I felt almost pain free. Heaven, I went in every day and thought you might try that if you are away on holiday with your lovely hubby. Stay strong, Lesley X
Gentle hugs being sent your way honey xxx
I like the image of tick boxing....!
Hi Sylvi, I don't understand why she wants to reduce your tablets as you are stable, Surely leaving it will keep it that way! How very frustrating for you. Big hugs xxxx

I also have sciatica. Mine is due to scoliosis. My Rheumy referred me to a spinal surgeon in Orthopaedic Dept as it is not related to my RD. They have helped me a lot. Perhaps you could ask for a referral to Orthopaedics? I do hope you get some relief soon.
Thank you darling.xxx
Sylvi.
Everything seems to be hitting on you just lately and you have not had an easy time have you?
You have a lot going on there and I know how much of an effort is involved to get to hospital apps. But to get there and not gain something from it is so draining and soul destroying. We put so much faith into our medical advisers and although we all know they cannot wave a magic wand and make it all better, we can at least hope to come away with something positive to work towards.
Your hubby is a good support to you and you are blessed in that respect and there are loads of folks on this site routing for you too.
Hang in there Sylvi.
Take care.

Hoping tomorrow is better for you. Love your garden <3
Aaw Sylvi, I hope the pain eases up soon. Xxx
Sorry to hear you're not feeling great. I'm sure you have- but have you asked to be referred to a pain clinic? They're becoming more popular and are manned by a variety of professionals. I was talking to an odp the other day who said more people should go.
Hope you feel better very soon x
You don't say if the pain goes down the back or the front of your leg. I have sciatica in my left leg for many years but had terrible pain in my right leg last year. The pain went down the front of my leg plus lots of pins and needles. Had falls due to my leg giving way, the GP kept sayin sciatica. I knew it wasn't as I had had that in the left leg and this was different. Had an MRI which showed multiple disc protrusions one of which was touching the femoral nerve. Given pregabalin, works for me, leg can give way if stand too long but pain so so much better. Sorry for the diatribe but wanted to tell you the difference. Hope it all gets sorted, persist with your GP or Rheumy to get a definitive diagnosis. Good luck x
