Opinion on Professor Ranjeny Thomas RA vaccine trials

So I've been educating myself on RA treatments and I came upon Professor Ranjeny Thomas vaccine trials from Queensland University. What do you think? Is there a cure around the corner?.

I hope with all my heart that there is.

This is not how I planned to spend my latter working years or indeed my retirement,as I am sure others have not either.

I just started reading up on everything related to this woman. I'm begining to feel like a stalker lol!!!

I do hope that the new type of vaccine works. I wonder how long it takes for this trial phase to be completed?

It sounds like a positive new direction - but I've read elsewhere that getting from promising research, through trials and testing, licensing and then mass production can take 10 to 15 years. So sadly I won't hold my breath.

The phase 1 trial is starting in 2016. So I guess, if it works we would be looking at another 10 years or so....I guess i'd be dreaming that they can "fast track" it within the next couple of years?... One can dream :)

Isn't that what dreams are for? To give us hope, as maybe something that was a news article a few years back will suddenly appear on the market. There was some wonderful sounding stuff on bio markers so they could tell what drug might work best for each patient, which would be a big step forward.

Sounds very positive and if it is available in 10 years it might be to late for some of us but brilliant for new generations especially if it can be stopped in its tracks before the joint damage is done.

Wonder what the cost implications are.

Think of all the very serious diseases that have been erradicated over the years.  They all started out with clinical testing so let's all be positive and think about a pain free future for ourselves and others suffering with this disease. How great it is to hear some good news in this world of mayhem. Best wishes to all.
