This is a delicate subject so apologise for asking. But does any one know of a cream or any suggestions for piles???? I have used Anusol for nearly a year, and it's not helping at all. I have had enough of them, and have seen a specialist who suggested banding, but has told me to take fibregel twice daily to see if that helps the constipation. Not a lot of luck so far, has anyone out there any suggestions please?

Hi Annie,
Sorry to hear about you problem, it must be very uncomfortable for you. Sorry, I can't comment on the creams, but as for the constipation, have you ever tried real Liquorice Pontefract Cakes? I can recommend this and M&S do some nice ones. I've mentioned this to others and it has worked well for them. Luckily for me I love Licquorice so have no trouble scoffing half a bag!!!! Hope you get some good response on this. Smiler x
Have you tried Germoloids? I got some OTC. As for constipation, drinking lots of water should help, and extra fruit. But I suspect you might already be doing that. Gentle exercise should also help, such as a 15 - 30 minute walk every day, or as often as you can.
I was told by friends to try vaseline , i gave never tried it .
Wish you luck.
Chris
It could be the piles that are causing some of the constipation. My cousin had so many, the consultant said it was like a bunch of grapes. She had them banded and is much better for it. I've used germaloid suppositories in the past and then had to resist the urge to 'strain'. Not nice things, they do cause many people problems! Hope you get some comfort soon.
I was given uniroid hc cream for mine and it worked a treat!
Afraid I can't remember the name but I used to have a spray for the external ones. It felt icy cold but certainly helped. I'm sure a pharmacist would know the name. I'm very fortunate as although I still get very constipated (due to a lot of codeine) the piles seem to have disappeared. I do hope you find some relief.
Try asking your GP if you can try Scheriproct ointment. It can only be used for a few days at a time as I think it has steroid in it but I found it effective.
Hello, I've just come across your post so I hope you've improved by now! I have IBS and during a really bad flare up a few years back I had piles, I remember the pain was awful. My GP gave me a cream on prescription, I'm sure it was called Xyloproct and I kept it in the fridge. Absolute lifesaver....if you can still get that then I highly recommend it. Take care x
