Hi. Has anyone experienced feeling their RA is slightly better the day after taking Ranitidine or am I imagining it? I've felt crap since taking MXT this week (dont usually get side effects) with a cracking headache and bad stomach - not nausea more indigestion. Anyway I'm still not sure what other tablets you can take whilst on MXT ie anti histamines, indigestion etc but gave in last night and took Ranitidine. Woke up this morning headache and stomach pain gone but also sore hands and backs of knees SO much better - almost no pain. Had more energy and generally so much better. Has anyone else ever found this or is it my imagination?? If I thought it would help the RA I'd take a Ranitidine every night lol😂😂
Am I going mad?...: Hi. Has anyone experienced feeling... - NRAS
Am I going mad?...
Ah thanks I didn't know that... I was joking about taking it every night but I might think more seriously now!!
I'd love to think it has helped you and maybe worth trying again. I've been taking the stuff for years, way before RD raised it's unlovely head, and it has made no difference to me.
Brilliant thank you. I'm going to try to find out more about this.
This is not supposed to be taken for long so I'd talk to your doctor. I take it on prescription and it gives me an upset tum so am wary of it. Like PPI's (which it isn't )it can do harm so best to be advised by a doctor to make sure any blood tests that need to be done are. My experiance is be cautious but if it works then its your choice really. x
Wish it were that easy. Doubt very much the ranatadine had anything to do with your joints feeling better. Possibly helped settle your tum. Why not ask for injections and bypass your tummy altogether.
I take Ranitidine every night to combat the effects of Diclofenac, perhaps it's the ranitidine that helps and not the diclofenac? ?
I am probably off base here but maybe it does something to shut down the immune system along with the acid just a bit in our stomachs and so in turn it helps the RA pain. I really think that my stomach issues caused me to have RA. I started at the same time I started with Intestinal Cancer which was found after Appendicitis....and also had an abdominal hernia after the cancer surgery and appendectomy (2 surgeries back to back) Then RA started. I then had the abdominal hernia surgery and after that the RA was really bad. Pain like you cannot imagine and my doctor said my numbers are off the charts. I really don't think it was a coincidence. I think it was part of the root of the problem.
Firstly in so sorry that you've been through all that I can only imagine how tough that was. RA on it's own is enough to deal with. I hope things are improving for you now.... i agree with what you said about stomach acid and I've always been sure that my RA has something to do with my gut. I had IBS for years and a hiatus hernia too. I think research going on into the gut/RA link will drive us forward in years to come - I hope so anyway!! Good luck.
Thank You Dobcross 1. I wish you the very best as well!!! xx
