Hi Katieg,

I am sorry to hear you are ill. You don't mention what meds you were on, or how the virus affects you. Strange your doctor should give you antibiotics, as these won't work on a virus, just bacterial infections. Was it your GP prescribed these? Or your rheumatology consultant? I should get back in touch with whichever one it is, and let them know you are still feeling ill. Sorry I can't be of much help. xx

Hi. I have a sinus infection and a urinary tract infection but have no symptoms for that. Just had some blood in my wee. Was on methotrexate but have suffered from anxiety all year and couldn't take it. I'm working towards starting it again this week x

When you've completed the course of antibiotics, it will be safe to restart Methotrexate. Are you on tablets, or subcutaneous injectons? I take the injections, currently 20ml, was on 25ml but my liver enzyme result is elevated so my rheumy reduced it. Also take 10mg Leflunomide and a reducing dose of Prednisolone. Hope you do better on Methotrexate next time round. xx

Hi I too have a virus which the doc said I needen antibiotics because he could hear crackling on my lungs I have now had three lots of different antibiotics as was allergic to first two but am nearly at the end of the last lot but this has been going on for three months now so am off all meds methotrexate and weekly injections of enbrel will see my doc on friday to see if infection has gone then hopefully be back on drugs but am concerned as I know I will pick up another virus and get complications from it again it seems like a rock and a hard place. as I cant't stand all the pain and aching from the RA when off the meds I just hope you have better luck as everyone responds differently I will keep fingers crossed for you

Bless you. I'm not allowed to start my meds until I'm better. I also know as soon as I start again it will ruin my immune system again. Fingers crossed we both have a speedy recovery x

Hi Katieg, Good luck with restarting the meds, try to keep away from anyone with a virus which is near impossible, I think we should wear masks (he he) but I think I am going to see rheumy friday so may ask to try something other than the enbrel, wish you well x
