Hi all,

Been on mtx for about 5 mths now and apart from alittle nausea I have been feeling great. But tool my mtx yesterday and my prednisolone in the morning , I spent last night throwing up and when I did try to sleep it was like all my pain came back but twice as hard , is this normal..

I am down to 15mg mtx once a week and 10 mg prednisolone every day, and 10mg folic acid 2 days after mtx.

Cheers all and I hope you are all feeling ok x

Hi, I’am not a doctor, but I have a suggestion. I found a free app called Drugs.com. Go to Drug Interaction, and check out the two drugs you are taking. Doctors won’t tell you if there will be a problem, unless you ask. I learn this on my own. Ask for a written prescription, so you can go home and check for interaction, then take it to your pharmacy. Hope this helps!

Could be totally unrelated to the RA or the drugs, so suggest you see a doctor if it continues. You could have picked up something like a norovirus, which goes as quickly as it comes, but is totally miserable inbetween. Every time I have something else wrong my RA always joins in.

Hi. I and the family had a sickness and some had dia about 4 weeks ago, felt awfull. Lasted different amount of time but needless to say I had it longest. Took a few days to get over and RA really felt like it had come got soooo much worse than recently, but I have returned to how I was before. Didnt/couldnt take any meds for 48hrs. I am now feeling like ive dipped slightly. As has been said maybe investigate further but it was a virus in my case. Take cate. Let us know how you get on.

I too feel it may be a ‘bug’ that has really ‘hit you’. When you have RA we are all more vulnerable and we tend to think the worst. Be positive and I hope you’ll soon be feeling much better. Xxxxx

It doesn't sound like a drug reaction to me, you've been taking them too long for them to suddenly react in such a way don't you think? MTX & prednisolone are commonly coprescribed, I take both & lots more here do too. It sounds more like a bug you've picked up, possibly a 24 hour one?

When I have a vomiting bug my body feels as though it's been run over by a steam roller, my joints too. You use muscles which you don't use every day as well so it all goes towards feeling sore.

I hope you feel better soon. Stay hydrated & if you can eat keep to bland food.

Sounds like a bug to me too. If it persists more than a few days though go see your GP. I think if you’re anything like me though your symptoms of RA will kick your ass whilst your body deals with it. Hope it’s short lived and you feel better soon.

I take calcium / vit D too

Hopefully it's just a bug but can you ring a rheum nurse and ask for advice? Good luck.
