It could take weeks to get an interview for assessment, but if i can remember they will let you know they have have got your application. Try not to worry too much as it will only make you worse(i know i did and i got into a state about it) If you have any extra evidence from the medical profession send it in as well as that helps.xxxx

I received a text when my application form was received (can't tell you just how long after as my phone's broken but it was only a few days after posting it). It was a while from then to receiving my assessment date. All in all it was 8 months from applying but my experience isn't a good example as I was subject to a habitual residence test, though I'd been back in the country a year after living abroad for 11 years.

I hope you've not a long wait & your application is successful. As Sylvi says provide as much evidence as you can from the medical professionals who treat your condition. If you have further written evidence it can be given to the assessor to include with their report.

All the best for when you have your assessment.

I submitted my application in November 2013 and had my assesment in January 2014.

Absolutely fine. I was really nervous but just be honest about your situation and do your best when they ask you about different tasks and what you are capable of. I had to do a number of tasks for the assesor like how for you can bend and stretch. Good luck and let me know how you get on.

Trish.

Thanks trish i will x

The DWP currently says 16 weeks but they said that last year and it was over 7 months for me and then another 5 months to go to the Court Appeal Tribunal, so don't hold your breath. Also remember ATOS, how do the assessments, are there to help the DWP avoid paying out. I am not being cynical as the process they use is designed to work that way. Also make sure you make them tape it, the DWP rules allow for it, you will then have a copy of the tape when you need to make your inevitable appeal.
