Any ideas if I should seek medical advice on taking methotrexate as I've got a rash on my hand?

Rash on methotrexate
We're advised with any new med to report anything unusual. Just a thought before you do though, you've not changed your hand wash, soap, laundry detergent or been using bleach without gloves have you? If no then I would advise your rheumy nurse. It seems odd though that it's only on your hand though. As you're new to MTX it's certainly worth reporting though neverthless.
If you are not sure about seeing the doctor about the rash you could pop into your nearest chemist and ask the pharmacist for advice.

Hi, it's probably worth getting a check up with the Dr just to be on the safe side since it's a new med. I had to stop mtx injections after ending up covered in a rash. It was all over - even in my hair. I think it began on my arms and then spread so I was advised by the consultant to stop taking it.
Methotrexate isn't a drug you can just take like an aspirin, it's a serious drug for a series condition like Arthritis you have to have regular blood tests and it has several possible side effects.
Hi Britt.
I would call your Rhumy's office and report the rash, they can advise you.
It will give you peace of mind and if any med adjustments need to be made or stopped they can tell you right away. They may want you to go in as well so they can see your rash. Good luck.
