I think that is the surgery my wife had a year ago and will have on the other hand in a couple of months. Tough recovery but totally worth it, she can't wait to have the other hand done. She is miserable with the pain in the the bad hand and has recovered completely in the hand that had surgery.

Hi, I have had three of my finger joints replaced (at different stages). The last one was about 4 years ago. I had got to the stage where I was in constant pain with my hands and the joint would be red and swollen particularly after using a computer keyboard at work. The op went okay. It involved a lot of physio post op and I couldnt drive for a couple of months.

One of the joints I can bend slightly now but the other 2 finger joints are completely stuck but then I had very little movement in them before the replacement. I think it can be a bit hit and miss as to how much, if any, mobility you regain, however the main thing was the pain in my fingers was significantly reduced. Good luck with your op.jx

I had a tendon transfer operation a year ago under local anaesthetic. It wasn't scary, it was (weirdly) fascinating. My middle finger tendon was moved to my thumb. My hand is not perfect, but it is functional now, and it wasn't before. I had weekly, then monthly physio, and it seems fine now.

Don't worry!

Hello I have RA and had trigger finger surgery a few months ago I gave a lido developed ulna drift where my fingers are turning towards the outer part of my hand. I need 2 knuckles replaced and tendon rebalancing. Big surgery sorry I am not familiar with yours but good luck.

I had a tendon transfer and ulnar bone shaving 2 weeks ago on my right dominant hand. Under a regional anaesthetic which was surprisingly fine. Pretty tough recovery so far but just starting physio and keeping positive. If the docs say it has to be done, then you must. Did you go through with the op and if so, how was it?
