mtx + chesty cold/cough

So 5 weeks in I have had mouth ulcers on mtx on advice of gp I didn't take last sundays dose. Now it is nearing sunday again and I have a chesty cough. Does anyone drop the mtx for a cough/ cold? I really don't want to miss the next dose.

I was told not to take it if I had a fever - so take your temperature with a thermometer and use that as a guide. I would always get medical advice though if you think that you have an infection as opposed to a virus [cold]. Are you taking Folic Acid? that should help with unwanted side effects such as mouth ulcers. Difflam mouthwash will kill off the bacteria and help heal the ulcers - although I found warm salt water gargling just as good:-}

If you have a bad cold, cough u should stop til it gets better, but I'm not a doc! only what I do when I feel ill....also if your cough persists! you should see GP as you are on MTX.....Ulcers are common in MTX....so is abscesses on teeth....but affects us all differently....I've been on MTX for 4 years now....Tc Jill

Folic acid tablets 1mg (Flovite) . I take 1 tab every day for mouth ulcers. I take 6 methotrexate every Thursday. I think the folic acid works great. I have been taking methotrexate over13 years. I have RA and take Enbrel sureclick once a week for over 4 months and I am finally seeing improvement
