I've been taking mtx for a few months now. I don't believe I've felt any difference at all. On Sunday/Monday I developed a dry cough thought nothing of it. Today has been my mtx day and cough seems worse. Mouth is really dry and a couple of times I've felt dizzy throughout the day. I've only just thought the 2 might be linked with the mtx. Anyone else experienced similar. Thanks.
Dry mouth dry cough for last couple of days could it ... - NRAS
Dry mouth dry cough for last couple of days could it be linked with mtx or just coincidence.
The bug going round starts like this have the tee shirt to prove it good luck chris x
Dizzy spells are common on my day after MTX injection - I've been taking it for 12 months now and some weeks are better/worse than others. I get a 'thick' head, extremely tired and feel like I'm coming down with flu. The following day I feel fine. I also get a dry cough, alternating with a frog in my throat, but I tend to have one or the other most of the time, not just the day after. I suffer a lot of heartburn with the meds though (I'm on Hydroxy too) and I've put the 'cough and frog' down to that, maybe it's the meds?
Can't comment on the side effects but thought it was worth saying that I saw no effect from mtx for 3 months. It hasn't been enough to hold my ra but it did help so don't give up on it just yet x
Dry cough with Mtx is one of the reportable side effects - so you need to ring your Rheumy Helpline or your consultant's secretary and ask for advice. Don't leave it.

I agree. Its not something you want to second guess.
Hello Bob here
The problems with MTX it can cause problems with the lungs.
At the moment there is a nasty bug or cold knocking around and I still have the cough to show for it, it also seems to come back after going away so you seem to get another dose.that can last for several more days.
Depending on when you see the nurse for your tests you could leave it till then although it may be advisable to put your mind at rest and telephone the clinic or talk to the GP, The former being the best option, They may take you off the medication until you recover and take some more tests to check if all ok
All the best
BOB
Dry mouth can also be a side effect of RA, where any moist area of the body can become dry, eg eyes, mouth, genital area.
It is known as Sjogrens disease. I get a mouth gel which I use constantly and eye drops to relieve the symptoms.
However of course this is only one cause ofdry mouth , there are others, so it's best to check with your doc and particularly as you have your cough.
Hope you feel better very soon xx
I was having 25mls mtx for 5 years. with one 10mg Leflunomide tablet. I had tablets at first which gave me blackouts and nausea (hence the change to injections). I was ok, but after my breast cancer dx and subsequent surgery, I had chemo, so had to knock the mtx on the head. I continued with the Leflunomide though. Now the chemo has finished, all my health problems are gradually returning. However, I don't really want to go back to the injections if I can help it. Can't have anti TNF treatment as I have Bronchiectasis and have been told that the anti TNF will make that worse. Oh the joys....
