Shocked at compassion Update on my neuropathy journey.

Well I attended the review of my absence. They were lovely. Not what I expected at all. My manager was extremely understanding. So unlike her. The guy from hr I quote said I think we are better off to leave you at home for a few weeks and not bother you give you time to get better and understand what is going on!

Ok ok so who are they and what have they done with the real managers!!! Even the union rep was shocked.

I think the fact I nearly kneecapped the hr guy accidentally with my crutches on entry to the meeting may have had some influence.

Update on moans n groans

I had the delights of a MRI on Sunday with swift confirmation that what ever is causing my foot drop is not from my spine. Elimination number 1

I have the nerve conduction studies tomorrow and consultant review on Friday. I'm now accepting at the possibility of MS or MNM

I have only fallen twice today which is not too bad. So over all it's been an okay day. Plus my new iPad arrived today so I suspect sitting and resting won't be such a chore for a few days. Xx

Hope everyone else has a good day. I also think that seeing the comparison pictures from my weight loss journey of the past 10 months has cheered my sorry face up a bit xx

Hi There.

So happy for you, they must have a human side after all. Hope your conduction tests go well too.

best regards

Well done my friend.xxxxx

Rarah it is inspiring that you were met with such compassion by people from whom you weren't expecting it but were really needing it. Good luck for all your tests. Please let us know the outcome. Tilda xx

Well, I'm really glad that you were met with empathy and understanding - unexpected as it was :-}

Do be careful about falling - my best friend suffered damage to her perineal nerve 8 weeks ago after a 'nothing' accident [she slipped sideways off the kitchen bar stool] and has dropped foot:-( She spent 2 weeks in hospital having tests as she also has leukaemia and heart failure - but 2 days after getting home she broke her right arm when she lost her balance again and fell. She's now confined to a wheelchair until the arm heals. I fall over a lot and am always concerned about breaking something as we have stone and wooden floors downstairs, but so far have only had bad bruising.

Good luck with the other tests.

Cece thank you. Would your friend mind you sharing what her treatment plan is? I hate falling and have every sympathy I think the right foot for me is gradually being affected too. :-(

Xx cara

I'm afraid that there doesn't seem to be a treatment plan - except watchful waiting. Her tests showed that it was definitely the perineal nerve and it seems to be a 'how long is a piece of string' situation regarding when or if she will recover:-( She's had a lot of OT input and fortunately lives in a bungalow. Her GP has been out and urged her to return to work as soon as she can [when arm has healed] as he's concerned about her getting depressed if she's on her own for too long. He's given her the details of a company who can adapt her car [an automatic] so that she can drive with her left foot and then teach her how to drive like that. Her husband works off-shore so he's away for 3 months at the moment but she's determined that he shouldn't have to return home.

I wish that we didn't now live so far apart, they moved south 9 yrs ago with her work, but we talk/ commiserate on the phone everyday. Fortunately she has an office based job in finance so not physically active and a great company who've stuck with her through all the CLL etc.

Let us know how you get on,

Cece x

Hi Cara, bet u wondered if u were in the wrong building when they were being nice lol. My meetings were like that too but in the end for me it was obvious I needed the time off work so now relax and get healthier ! Enjoy the new iPad!

Allanah

I was very shocked. Not sure that it's not a false sense of security.

The iPad Is fab much lighter that the old iPads and easy to hold xx

They must realise you are "sick" , not playing on it lol. So dont do what i did and feel guilty for being off, i was worried about others covering for me etc, but that did me no favours as that stress just made me flare more lol .

love the ipad, especially as Siri types everything for me, including this! But it does occassionally change my words and some of the things i have posted by mistake have been hilarious. xx

I love Siri. He he.

I've send a really nice dr this morning. I have a trapped nerve at my knee which he says needs surgical release ASAP.

He was also saying that there is a genetic condition where the nerves get trapped in Boney areas needing surgery to release them. (I had a similar issue in my arm)
