n the backseat of the car it is agony and makes me feel sick ive had acupuncture osteopath and it hasn't really gone Is this typical of anyone else's pain ? Xx
Well I did have a lot of pain in both of my shoulders before I was diagnosed and started MTX and I'm quite sure it was RA because it was the same kind of pain I was having elsewhere at the time. Since I started MTX I have only had one flare up involving my shoulder a bit and it was when I had a month of MTX. It ended up in my right elbow and wrists and knuckles and thumb but it was all down one side and started right deep in my shoulder blade. So if you have RA and the disease is not fully controlled it could well be RA I would say. Have you had your inflammatory markers taken recently (ESR/ CRP) and if so are they higher than normal? That could be the thing that tells you whether this is RA related or not. There are other problems that can cause pain in the shoulders such as wear and tear OA and rotar cuff problems too but the shoulders are also quite a common place for RA to go for. Tilda x

I thought I was we'll controlled bar a few aches that come and go I have a blood test on the 15 th of july so will ask what's going on ill ask rheumy what s going on I thought it was all ok as am now on 3 monthly blood tests I'm away at the moment and thought the sun would have helped but it hasn't !!
Hi, I have the same pain and have also experienced the agony of reaching to the back seat of the car! I've had it for months and was wondering whether it could be something else but I've recently started getting the same pain in my other shoulder so am putting it down to uncontrolled RA. Still waiting for MTX to kick in. Tracy xxx

Before the meds kicked in , my shoulders were the worst joints affected for me, and I totally remember that sick making pain. I haven't had this pain for some while now as my RA seems to be under some sort of control! But I would certainly think that your pain could be RA.

Hi I'm also deeply affected by shoulder pain,first just in one,then both,I couldn't reach up for anything,had to dress hanging top half over bottom half,my arms felt very weak too,but now they are so much better my RA is more under control.mine was defintly 100% RA related.take care michelle xxx
Hi. shel. I think your right it's the ra everyone's comments seem to be the same as mine and nothing is shifting the pain. I don't really want to increase the dose. 15 mtx and 400 plaquen il. Do you inject yours , so you think thata better and does it go quickly ??

I am only on 17.5 mg oral tablets of mtx,but it was from going to 15 - 17.5 mg that made my shoulders so much better.i was still experiencing pain in shoulders and feet on 15mg,that's why they increased to 17.5 mg,it does seem to have made a huge difference to me anyway xxx
