Hello, I've only been smoke free for 1 week and it's so hard. I'm doing it cold turkey. I was wondering, has anyone had any problems with taste. Everything I eat and drink tastes terrible.

there are many side effects which last a few days, all will pass just be strong and dont give in. All these side effects are just in our mind trying to make excuses to smoke.

Good for you!! It's such a good decision to be smoke free, for our health and it's easier on the pocket book too ;)

I thought we taste better when not smoking, but who knows, right? Could be physiological like a side effect of the nicotine leaving your system, or psychological, like a strong mental association you had with smoking after a meal. We are all such complex human beings. Keep up the clean living!!

Welcome Purplishluv and hopefully you are now over 50 days smoke free! How is things now?

I too stopped cold turkey and will be 4 years smoke free in September and never looked back. It was a bumpy road at times but you can so achieve it :) Our taste and smell senses re-grow when we stop. Smoking damaged the cilia hairs in nose and throat so can affect the taste when we stop but usually for the better. So, it may be worthwhile going to the dentist for a check up as smoking masks oral and teeth issues.....
