Just a quick update to say that I have made it through the week unscathed and cigarette free. I have experienced the odd longing to smoke but I remain resolute and determined to stay on track. I have particularly enjoyed reading other people's accounts of quitting and I feel your sense of pride and achievement as important milestones and targets are reached.
Thanks for all the encouraging messages and 'likes' too; they have helped me feel part of a shared experience which could so easily have felt quite isolating.

Wohoo! First week is the worst so we'll done!! It is funny how much the badges can mean.. And the sense of accomplishment they create! I love looking at my app for how many days quit, money saved and cigarettes avoided (those last two can be really shocking!) 😱
It's early days but I genuinely believe I can crack it this time. I have tried to quit many times before, but I recognise that what I lacked on those occasions was any form of positive reinforcement. The encouragement I get from the fantastic people on this site and the app, which shows the benefits that accrue as each day passes, are hugely motivating and spur me on. I believe💪
Congratulations, that is impressive. Just remember, if you can make it a week, then you certainly have the power to make it indefinitely. Make sure to treat yourself to things you enjoy when you reach goals, milestones, etc that you set. It helps me stay positive and looking forwards, not backwards. I had to make it a week before asking a girl out that I liked. Two weeks to buy a sport coat that I've been eyeing up. Etc. Even though you don't need it, good luck, and enjoy the positive journey of breaking a bad habit!
Huge welcome to our community MrMittens - excellent encouraging reply, how long have you been stopped? Perhaps create a new introductory post to share you story....
Thank you Mr Mittens. I'm still feeling strong, even more so after reading your motivational words. I aim to 'go large' when I hit the '£1k saved' mark and treat myself to something substantial. I'm guessing you quit successfully; it would be great to hear your story too.
