Day 2 of quit, using nicotine gum. Just had the worst craving. Felt like a mini panic attack. Brought on by the fact that I will never smoke again. Is this normal. After all I really want to quit!

Welcome Kth1181 and congrats on making the best decision of your life to quit - what you are feeling is perfectly normal - lots of ice cold water, deep breathing when severe craving attacks occur, it is just your body physically and mentally re-wiring as it is no longer getting the thousands of poisonous chemicals.

Thanks rosin01. I'll try the ice cold water tip. It completely took me by surprise. I wasnt expecting it to be so intense.
These cravings will now be less and less intense and easier to deal with as each day smoke free passes, just take one day at a time (or even one hour at a time if having a bad day)
Another thing to keep an eye out for is out of the blue cravings - this is normal, could be just doing something random for the first time not smoking, e.g. mowing your lawn. Embrace it and attack, once you get over it for the first time, you won't have it again
