Day 33 - strong cravings

Ok, since it seems my previous post was too, let me quote, too "graphic" and "detailed" ;) and therefore deleted, I have to shorten my story.

I am in Day 33, didn't have any cravings for 5-6 days. Since a female coworker which I haven't seen in the summer season, turned out to have surprising physical attractiveness, I can't get my mind off her and I really feel like smoking a cigarette to calm myself down.

If any of you had similar problems please give me your advice.

Hope this is ok now and will stay till I get some answers.

My answer would be that you have yet again started a thread that is sexually orientated, as you said you have had one thread removed, only to try to start another one with the same content, this is a no smoking site with the emphasis on not smoking and I feel that you have not got the gist of it yet.

I hope that the forum can help you stay quit but feel that maybe you have picked the wrong place to help you quit.

Also remember when you are picking a theme for your thread that this is a mixed site with maybe children viewing what Mum or Dad has posted.

Good Luck in your quit.

At least you could propose something instead of posting a completely useless answer.

Oh and my thread is super polite now so... Oh and if children sit at their parents computer I am sure they can see stuff much worse than a no smoking forum :D:D:D

I would propose some sort of physical activity - so when the urge arrives - maybe indulge in a spot of wrestling.... with a fellow ex-smoker....in a mankini.....that should put an end to it !!

Quitting is 90% in the mind, at the moment your mind is connecting the 2 situations, smoking and meeting a pretty lady.

The fact is that smoking is just feeding an addiction to nicotine, the fact that you want to smoke when you meet an attractive woman is because you would previously have had a smoke while you thought about how might try to chat her up, or plucked up the courage to talk to her etc.

When you quit smoking you have to face these associations head on and beat them, in all honesty the only way you do this is toughing it out. Every time you beat a craving you become more experienced in dealing with that situation without smoking so next time it will be easier.

Eventually you will have faced and seen off all the triggers you are likely to face, but at the moment you'll just have to deal with them one by one as they come along.

Hope that helps,

Nic

I agree... it's a trigger thing. Obviously, in your case, 'romantic' feelings (shall we call them) are a big trigger.

Just another trigger that can be overcome. Next time you encounter a similar situation it won't be so bad.

And now, Mr. Libido, can you talk about knitting, or car maintenance or something, just by way of variety? :D

Omg, thank you very much Nik, it is exactly as you said. Only thing that I can add is before you decide how to approach her maybe you get nervous too, so that's adding to the habit.

You really helped me :)
