A mothers promise

I am one week into my quit and I am struggling. I made a promise to my 2 year old son that I would never smoke again. Therefore failure is not an option. I cannot break a promise to my son. I am feeling like I can't focus and almost like my thoughts are scrambled. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I have and I truly felt like I was losing control of myself and my thoughts. I even felt like smoking was better for me cause it calmed me down but I had to look for help which was a big step for me and realize that I was looking for a excuse to smoke. I'm only 10 days free but every day does get better. What helped me was to face triggers head on and to stop thinking of not smoking . It is still hard and I still miss it but I truly am better every day. I'm so proud of u for not giving up.

Keep going.. it really does get easier. It helps to WRITE DOWN your reasons for quitting and whenever you get an urge look at your list this way you dont forget your reasons. Whenever I get the urge I remember that craves dont last very long. A few minutes at the most .distraction helps. Just do something else .anything. good luck.

Hang in there, I too am struggling 3 weeks in, but I guess we knew it wouldn't be easy.

It will be worth it in the end, better health, more money in our pockets & not being a slave to that little white stick.

Good luck, keep fighting.

Welcome Willsmom01 and congratulations on over 1 week smoke free, that is great! What you are feeling is perfectly normal as you brain has begun re-wiring after the damage done from all the poisonous chemicals from the cigarettes. Have a look at below pinned post if not already done so along with some other ones across the way.
