So, I posted here 6 days ago as I was on my way to stop smoking. Unfortunately, I went back the next day to smoking again. All of you were so kind to support this cause of mine but the cravings were terrible.

The good news is, I quit again today. Hopefully for good this time 😒

Its hard but only for a while, be kind to yourself and believe in you!

It is hard, really hard and you are not alone in this. Try to remember that it really does get easier. The first few days are the worst. I used an e-cig to get me through and that was the only method that worked for me.

Try all options. Keep trying. It takes time and a huge amount of effort.

Well done on starting over.

arus , it's hard to quit smoking!! You have to want it really badly! I'm glad you didn't give up on quitting! Fight for it, believe you can do this. One minute, one hour, one day at a time. You can do this:)

Quitting is tough. Extremely tough. As Putter said, you have to really want to rid yourself of this terrible addiction. You can do it - but it takes true determination. Get rid of any you have otherwise, IMO, you'll give in and think 'just one won't hurt' and you'll be back to square one. Good luck!

Oh yes quitting is tough especially the first week, but you can do it if your truly determined. Some are able to quit cold turkey, some need some form of NRT I used an ecig, but all ways still require willpower. Nicotine is very addictive. Just believe in yourself you are stronger than that nasty nico demon. Drink lots of water, alter your routine if you can, keep your mind busy, think of the benefits of quitting, more money, better health, not smelling of cigs and most of all not being a slave to this dreadful habit. Good luck

It is a hard thing to do. When I quit cold turkey I was so anxious beforehand at the thought of missing my 1st morning ciggie. Then I got over that and it wasn't too bad, but I still missed it. I carried on for a month but failed due to various reasons.

Anyway, once I had that relapse I realised how much I really want off them. I kept thinking "tomorrow I'll start again". It took almost 2 months for "tomorrow" to hit. I was back to feeling breathless, coughing and the horrible smell but strangely had not noticed during the quit how much my body was repairing itself. So, once I had realised this I went to my local chemist and went on the patches and it has greatly helped me and I am on day 16 today. It has certainly taken the edge off.

You have came back here which is a good thing. Maybe speak with your local chemist (not sure where you are but we can do that here in Scotland and they give a weekly prescription) and ask about options to help you.

Good luck and keep us posted.

A lot of people don't quit at the first attempt, keep trying - you can do it!!

Hi arus,

I actually couldn't tell you how many times I've tried to quit but I'm here again and feel like I'm doing it this time. I quit Friday. Before I felt I should quit for my health family etc.. but didn't really have the determination as I don't think I really wanted to. I feel differently this time as I am constantly thinking about the negatives of smoking and how when I have 'just one' I don't feel better, just guilty that I have to start all over again because ultimately I don't want to be a smoker. Best of luck with your quit. We can do it!!πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡

Well done arus for coming back and sharing, that would have been tough and you didn't have to do it. Good news!! You chose to never give up quitting and got back on the horse :)

Perhaps, have a read for the pinned posts across the way especially the ones on tips on quitting.

My personal tips are Desire and Determination to quit, Be positive that you can do it but be prepared to fight and knowledge on quitting and addiction....
