At the beginning but feeling positive 😚

I'm on day six and I'm feeling great. I smoked for 20years and tried numerous times to quit. I'm doing it cold turkey. And snapping the elastic band round my wrist everytime I get a craving is really working! πŸ˜ƒ I developed asthma 2 years ago so my respiratory system is loving me right now. I don't want to go back πŸ˜©πŸ˜šπŸ’š

Hi Slategrey, welcome to the forum. You're doing the right thing, especially for your respiratory system!

Keep posting to let us know how you're getting on and have a good look around the site. There's a lot of useful advice here and there will usually be somebody here to try to help with any immediate problems.

I like the elastic band therapy sounds very effective...although slightly sadomasochistic :-)

Maybe not the best choice of words πŸ˜€

Does sound painful though...but I suppose that's the whole point!

Huge welcome Slategrey to our community and congratulations on Day 6 - tomorrow is your first big milestone of 1 week, plan that treat / reward as you deserve it :)

I too quit cold turkey and will be 1 year quit on Saturday, its a rollercoaster of journey but worth it to feel this good now.

Keep up that positivity as it is vital in our quits. Again, as Nozmo suggested, read up here and in general on addiction and quitting. We look forward to reading your progress :)

That's ok, you're forgiven. The first week seems to drag on forever as far as I remember so it's no wonder you're ahead of yourself.

Just thought Slategrey , have you got a quit smoking app for your phone/tablet/PC? If you haven't I would get one, really helps in the early stages as you see your health and wealth progress.

If on Facebook, they have an easy daily motivator one called 'Quitometer'

Well done with your quit. It is such a great thing to do. I can see why the elastic band would work - like a shock to distract the craving. Whatever works to help you is the main thing.

I have the smokefree app on my phone which is great to show how much money you've saved and also the benefits to your health.

This site is great for support and advice.

Good luck

Welcome Slategrey I used the elastic band trick early on and it worked for me. I'm now 4 days shy of 900 days of freedom ;) and with no more elastic bands in sight.

One full week now for you!!! Well done!! Look forward to watching you move forward through this journey :)

Thanks guys πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

I've started day 7 today πŸ˜ƒ I've been up really early the last 2 days with the most annoying cough 😩

Is this normal and is there a remedy?

Cheers xxπŸ’š

Hey Slategrey , yes this is perfectly normal and a good sign that your lungs is clearing out. A spoonful of honey swallowed down very quickly is very good to relief it. Also vaporizing with oils or vicks helps to lift it too.....

It's horrible when the cough thing starts. I started coughing trying to get off to sleep last night. So annoying. You expect when you quit that there will be no more coughs. On the positive side your body is starting the healing process. Hopefully it will calm down soon.
