another quit...almost finishing day 2

another quit....dont wanna think what number this is...

almost at the end of day two, its been pretty easy so far...

left the hospital sunday afternoon, with terribly damaged lungs from my asthma and a pain in the #@$$! lungs infection....so its not a big deal i've made it this far without any complains...

just a lot of cough, barely speak a sentence, phlegm, running nose...and over all feeling shitty...

i wonder, if this time round....just my health condition would make this a successful quit ?

Welcome Psuedo, and congratulations on making the best decision of your life. My main reason for giving up was due to a chest infection. That was 4 months ago and haven't looked back since.

I never want to go through that night I put out my last smoke, I thought I was going to die as woke up coughing and couldn't get my breath. I think the key to success is you need to be 100% committed and focused to your quit, be positive and take each day as it comes. Research is also key on what is happening with your body and brain when you quit.

Wishing you every success in this quit and look forward to reading your progress :)

Hello Pseudo and Welcome

You've got all the right reasons for wanting to quit I'm sure and the main one is your health.

I don't suffer from asthma myself but I know for sure that smoking was making my lungs suffer. I don't know if this will help yours but it certainly helped mine: Buy yourself some menthol crystals from the chemist (they only cost pennies). Then put ONE in some hot water, put a towel over your head and inhale the steam. Try and do this twice a day. A doctor friend of mine told me this and it does help - makes you cough and your eyes stream but it does help clear the congestion - well it did for me.

The most important thing you can do for yourself and your lungs etc is to stop smoking. You will notice the difference in only a few days.

I wish you all the best with your quit. Just think about your health and don't ever think that quitting is impossible because it isn't.

Very best wishes to you - you can do this:) and you'll be so glad you did.
