Day 4 SURPRISING!

nsd_user663_64564 profile image

Woke up , had my first cup of Coffee "slight" crave but in comparison to the last three day's - today is SURPRISINGLY good

The anxiety has subsided hated that "lump" in my stomach.

The headache is thing off the past.

The nausea has passed and been replaced with a hunger I have not felt in YEARS.

Frakken , strange how the mind works - went from feeling great this morning to DYING for a smoke!!

All because I opened the cupboard and saw the OH smokes and my trusty old "Zippo" I love the taste of a smoke when lit with a Zippo even the smell of the zippo fuel has got me going!!!

Damn it ! I WILL not Smoke!!!

Gazza.....Remove all those triggers from your sight for the first few weeks....!!!

Umm err how do I get rid of the OH for a few weeks lol

jokes aside nothing I can do about her fags BUT yea have placed my trusty ole Zippo where I wont stumble across it,

BUT from feeling great to dying for a smoke instantaneously and all from just SEEING my Zippo?? that is a total mind frack!!

Damn it I am still thinking about lighting a smoke!!

My OH is still smoking as well can't force him to quit it's taken me long enough to do this but think he may well join me if I can kick this habit! A bit of competitive smugness is no bad thing and in a way makes me more determined!! Keep going

Back to normal thank god the craves passed!! DAMN Zippo lol

Just got back from a Wimpy Breakfast, going to do some chores around the house and HOPEFULLY keep my mind off smoking!

Finish the water slide into the pool.

Finishing installing the CCTV in the Garden.

Finish the Plex migration to the new Linux server

Complete the Arcade Cabinet

I have been on leave since the 11th Dec 2015 to the 11th January 2016

That should keep me busy a while - the Gum poles have been concreted in for a week so the slide should be quick!!

if I am done in time I will post some pics :(

Our minds make anything a trigger. The time of day, the weather, odors, team logos, whatever. It gets better after a few weeks.

Have opened a Bottle of wine and am sitting on the patio glass in hand,

The end of a truly wonderful day so yea tomorrow is day 5 hope it is as good as today was!!

I take it you're not in England, gazza!

Well done Gazza, you are doing great but I would suggest speaking to your OH about putting the smokes out of sight from you. You have to think of yourself as you will have enough going on without unnecessary triggers.

Enjoy your wine and lucky you wherever you live that you can sit out, weather here in Ireland is horrendous with flooding!

Hi All

Defo not in the U.K - Sunny South Africa :)

Gazza, hello :)

So glad you didn't cave in today! You're doing so well - each time you have to fight a crave from now on, remember you've already done the hard bit, you've started your smokefree life and you've got four days of kicking that monster in the teeth behind you! That's awesome :)

Keep up the good work x

Ah the ups and downs of the first few weeks.

Why, may I ask, is the OH not joining you in your quit? Those who quit together stick together etc etc, though I know it always has to be the right time for each individual.

Lucky you drinking wine in the first few days, I am avoiding like mad because it makes me crave so bad!

Good luck with Day 5!

Morning everyone,

Day 5 and still in the "Game" could not fall asleep last night soooo feeling rather groggy today, maybe my head will clear after a cup o Coffe

Morning Gazza

Yeah, unfortunately insomnia could last a couple of weeks, try to stay up as long as you can and relax yourself before going to bed, strongs!

Thanks Mate

Will give it a try, however is it normal to have an increase in energy so early in?

I Cycle a fair amount , so I am by no means of the word "Unfit" but I just seem to have all this pent up energy?

Even though I used to do a lot of running in the past couple of years (but hadn't for the last few months) I'm finding I can't wait to get to the gym!

My energy increased almost immediately too but it seems to be up and down at the moment but think that might be due to the winter weather!

Thanks, for the feedback Guys

in the last 5 days I have done sooo much around the house quitting has really been the best thing I have ever DONE!!

Gonna "pop" into the office tomorrow for an hour or two lets see how I handle all the triggers:

1....Quick smoke in the car

2....Smoke before technical meeting

3....Smoke after technical meeting lol

sooooo many smoking excuses lets see what the morrow brings, BUT rest assured , I am to far in my quit to have a smoke!!

yea so Tomorrow brings day 6 NEARLY end of the first week

I have every faith in you Gazza, you have prepared yourself for tomorrow, make yourself a drink or go for chat when you would normally have your smoke, I changed my routine to making iced water lemon first thing when I would have a smoke before starting my working day, morning break now eating a healthy breakfast and no longer skipping it, after my lunch read the newspaper or chat with colleagues, the new routine quickly kicked into place.

Thanks for the advice mate,

Defo a change in routine is called for!

Day 6 has arrived !

Has my first GOOD nights sleep , plus I slept in till 9:20 - truth be told I could get back into bed, it's not depression or anything but I REALLY could go back to sleep LOL.

Ever since the Army (National Service) I wake up 4:30 on the dot , get up and start my day, this is the first time I have slept in in 30 odd years and I ENJOYED it.

Thx Mate!,

Decided to give work a Miss lol - going to chill next to pool for the day! it's ME time !

Sooo it is the end of day 6 - tomorrow is day 7 , then its on two week 2 - I am really grateful for ALL the support I have received

THANK you all so much!

Woop woop ,

Last day here then it is beginning of week two!!

I cant believe how great I feel, (Beside the Craves) even the craving has softened up lol - from craving NON stop, I now go hours at a time without think of smoking

I still battle in the evenings, after tea or coffee and especially after a Meal, but I am sure as my body learns deal with the triggers they will just fade into a distant memory.
