Hello I am currently 24 days into stopping smoking after 16 years of smoking.
In this time I have never stopped or attempted to stop.I am 34 and started when I was 18, I have smoked my entire adult life and not known anything else.I would smoke everyday  no matter if I were ill or my situation .The longest I went without a fag was a plane trip from Dubai to Auckland via Melbourne. 14 hours or so. No fags allowed at Melbourne it killed me.
I am now smoke free and for some strange reason I hate smokers!  Here is how I did it....
My good mother bought some nicotine patches for me so I took them and put them in the cupboard.
6 months later I set a date to stop 1 June. This day came and there I was as usual with coffee and fag outside on the balcony..I love smoking more than the coffee
June 16th out for morning coffee and fag - smoke half fag then stub it out - go to patches and put them on.
currently trying to kick the patches and avoid going crazy from 14mg >2mg
‹Morale...you need to want to stop yourself before stopping otherwise it won't work - find a motivation to stop - for me the biggest motivation to stop is my baby boy.
Once you have the realisation that you don't need to count fags at night and have your life ruled by smoking + How pointless they are it will be worth it. I generally am happier without smoking (despite crazy withdrawal symptoms)
Hope this helps cheers
