16 Year Old, Determined to Quit.

Ive been smoking since I was thirteen now, and I am honestly sick of the consistent coughing and lack of energy and stamina. My girlfriend is sick of it, and I'm tired of having to run to my local ATM every day to finance this habit. I'm currently on a pack a day, and I hope to quit this Friday, at the end of my Exams.

What Dale says about preparation is usually at the heart of a successful quit. That and keeping on educating yourself. After only 3 years of smoking you should have a slightly less bumpier ride than us 30+ year smokers...but hey it's all relative.

A pack a day at £42/week must be difficult to finance at your age. Good that you're taking that level of stress off your shoulders.

Great decision you have made, unlike many of us you being so tender in years you will be able to turn the biological clock back to that of a non smoker.

I'm not saying it's easy - but the rewards for you will be priceless

First Day.

I had my last cigarette today, and finished my examinations. I'm going to keep productive, as I know the first three cigarettes are the hardest, so I'm going to the gym, and going to book the tickets to Thailand for me and my girlfriend.

I don't really feel that bad, so helpfully this feeling will keep up for the remainder of this three day period.

Hi Anthony and welcome, good luck with your quit, hope your exams went well my 16yr old has just finished his so I know what the pressure is like, wise choise to wait until your exams have finished before your quit you need to be totally focussed on them first. One step at a time, that's how I did it and drank loads of water, I had been a smoker for 35 years imagine what my lungs must be like ? wish I had packed in at your age.
