Hi Tracey, really sorry to hear this. However, you've done this before and you can do it again. You've posted some excellent support for others on here over the weeks I've been coming on here. I would be careful whilst you are feeling very disappointed and desperate to rush into stopping. Maybe take time to ease up on yourself (forgive yourself!), and get some calm. If it helps to release some of that on here, just do it.

Hi Tracey

In sorry to hear you got beat, how many did you or have you had to start with ? It is so so very difficult, there really is no rhyme or reason that we can come up with logically we just need to make sure we get straight back into the program. Xx

Hi Tracey,

I know exactly how you feel - i failed too.

Take a few days to pick yourself up and get over the feelings of failure. Then calmly set a new quit date and try again.

You can do this!

Hi Tracey

I'm new to this non smoking but finding this site great and helpful. So many others in the same position.

I've been using zyban. So far it has been fantastic. I am really not exaggerating.

However, please read about it first as I'm yet to stop taking them.

I may be saying something different then.

However, I've done what I didn't think I could.

Whatever happens, however hard it is I will never smoke again.

Even saying that gets my dopamine levels up.

However you do it good luck. There is a famous quote about not failing but learning from our mistakes. Unfortunately I can't remember it but I'm sure someone can.

Just looked it up on the internet.

It does make sense.

I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

Tracey! Its four in the morning here and you got me to sign in and answer to your post :)

I dont want to say much...I just want to say how much I admire you. It takes guts to be sincere, and to write here that you have been smoking. I often think that if I smoked I would or silently withraw from the forum, either I would make a new profile, or I would continue posting as if nothing happened. To be so open and sincere, means you are a humble and amazing person and that deserves my admiration.

The fact that you are smoking is not a big deal. I mean yes you r smoking but If I judge from your posts you r not smoking for that long. The issue is (an issue that is a huge problem for me) that we want to be perfect. So if we have a slip, we think we lost it all. Even if nowadays you smoke 40, you still havnt lost anything. Smoking days arent that many. Sometimes what keeps us from starting an effort is this thought: "I hadnt smoked for such and such days...omg I did so well back then...it seems I will never do it again....it will take ages to break my record....it all requires so much work...after all the work I did, see? I lost..."

All these useless thoughs that keep us chained.

What I would do Tracey if I was you. And I say this with all my wifi love :)

I would, turn off everything for an hour, and give time to myself to think all this. To desire again to be smoke free. And then without pating myself I would think of my lungs and quit once more.

Have a most amazing day!

Hi Tracy

Antonis has said what I am thinking here. Great post. We are not perfect, it must feel disappointing that you have a break in your smoke free record but remember you have been smoke free for over a year and you loved being smoke free. Take some time to reflect, write out the reasons you don't want to smoke. Ignore the negative thoughts and believe in yourself. Who knows what makes us pick up another cigarette after we stopped!! But if it still repels you and you don't want to do it get back on the horse as soon as possible. You can do it and in the long run the only thing that will matter is that you are smoke free rather than clocking up another decade as a smoker x

Tracey, the others have said it all really...you can do this, you know you can. You've seen the evidence of your own success.

Cut yourself some slack. You had a really really tough time. And you can fight back and start again, because you are strong and wonderful.

We love you. Hope today has been ok x

You so didn't fail - you had a blip - it's no biggie. I'm new to this forum but from the replies to your post you're obviously really respected on here. Don't underestimate the demons, but cut yourself some slack, you're succeeding - it's just that your personal quit has included a bit of a fall off the wagon. You sound so determined, don't worry, relax and carry on with your quit. I have to say this - I'm only 2 weeks in and have sneaked many 'little puffs' - only 3 or 4 puffs literally, and only every few days, but I'm learning to not beat myself up. It's a process, we all learn how to stop and stay stopped differently. The important thing is you are doing it - you are quitting. Can you learn from the blip what it was that triggered you to blip? That might help in the future? It's all about learning. Getting the nicotine out if our systems is the easy bit! You haven't started smoking again, you've just had a bit of a set back. You'll get there.
