Well I haven't been on this site for ages (just not the same without all the old familiar peeps) but just wanted to say - I made it to 1 year on Monday (23rd) yeehah!
Hi Everyone!: Well I haven't been on this... - No Smoking Day
Hi Everyone!
Fantastic news, brilliant another success, all that hard work had paid off.
So pleased for you
Congratulations can't wait to get where you are
Welcome to the penthouse. Your so right that this place is not the same without the old timers like Kat and Max they were my inspiration ..
Thanks everyone for your kind wishes and good luck to you all too. You are so right Jeannie, some of the old timers were truly inspirational and helped me to keep going through the tough times
I know instead of moaning about how good it used to be you old timers should be providing the support NOW and inspiring NEWBIES in their quits. Don't just come on every blue moon and moan.
I have had some great support in my quit, and I will provide support no matter how long in the future.
I think your right about the old timers but on the other hand I found it a bit off putting to see so many members banned. I don't know what happened to cause it but omg there are so many members banned. Guess you have to be careful what you post which is a bit worrying. But I too am benefitting from the wonderful support its good to know your not on your own that others are going through the same withdrawal as you. Long may this forum continue
Congrats on your year quit
Thanks DonnaJ, and I don't know who you are Brian P but you are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine . . . .
Congratulations on such a huge achievement and thank you for posting. I notice that you also smoked for 40 years which helps me realise it is possible to stop after such a long term habit and helps quiet that annoying voice in my head that says it is too difficult to stop after 40 years.
Thanks

'that annoying voice in my [your] head' will use any trick in the book to convince you to keep on feeding it. Don't fall for it - show that demon who's in charge!
It is possible 'Justdoit' but I won't pretend it's easy although I know that some people find it easier than others, I guess we are just all different! As Egg says you just have to ignore the voice and keep going. I think the thing that helped me most was someone telling me to literally take one day at a time as looking too far ahead is too scary, my mantra became - I choose not to smoke today. Before you know it the days, weeks then months rack up and each one feels like such a massive achievement, also the longer you keep going each time you feel tempted you have to remind yourself of all the hard work done so far that you would be throwing away. Best of luck Justdoit and hopefully next March you will be on one year too!
Well done, sorry I'm struggling today just coming up for 6 weeks, here's to many more, days, weeks, months, years x
