Or is there something annoyingly pleasant about the smell of a pipe? Yep ciggies stink to high heaven we all agree on that im sure. But...maybe it's just me, but the smell of a pipe, and it's *sniff* ahhhhh lovely! Not that I'm tempted to smoke one mind.
Is it just me?: Or is there something... - No Smoking Day
Is it just me?
I always liked the smell of pipe smoke although not many people smoke them now so I haven't smelled it for a while. It always seemed to smell light and sweet as opposed to the choking heavy smell of cigarette smoke.
Mind you, I smoked miniature cigars like cigarettes and they have a smell all of their own too.
My Grandad smoked a pipe so I find it a comforting happy smell,...
Be interesting if they like the smell of fresh smoke once they give up smoking. I was really unable to smell smoke, but now it's horrid!
Carl, when I was little I went to my dad's friends house and sucked on a stale pipe and was sick. So never liked them since, but there is something mildly seductive about a man in a smoking jacket with a pipe, but he does have to look like that chap who played opposite Penelope Keith in 'To the Manor Born'.

Is that Peter Bowles you're talking about? That programme was a long time ago! Was still in school then!
You are right, just googled, the programme was aired between 79-81! So I would have been at school too. Wow, didn't realise it was that long ago, but yes, him in a smoking jacket in 1979!
Camped up in Scotland a few years ago and was swamped by the dreaded Scottish midge. So bought a pipe and some baccy and survived the little buggars whilst fishing. The clouds of smoke seemed to drive them away to the other fly fishermen - ha. However, didn't keep it up as it made me feel sick.

79...things that mattered back then...Keeping my little brother away from my Debbie Harry posters on my bedroom wall...getting to see Gary Numan live...getting into the 2 tone mod revival...help I feel old! When did that happen???
