Day 7 and no cigarette.

I decided to go cold turkey, no patches, no nothing.

Its the craving that is the difficult bit for me.

Hello and a warm welcome from me, wow a whole week ct, I,m in awe. Yes indeed it's the craves that get to us, but without doubt the longer you quit the weaker the crave.

Great tohave you with us, any issues weather good or bad were here to help, so post and read often.

Once again welcome, great decision, and a huge well done from me.

Welcome aboard. May I suggest the simple pleasures of Haribo Goldenbears to ease you through the first few days :)

Well done Joe x I'm CT too. I've found strong flavoured sweets helpful and deep breathing :) all the best with your quit, you're already through the worst of it x

Welcome Smokey :D

I often say that I have nowt but admiration for anyone who can quit CT. I know I couldn't have done it and all power to you for getting your first week parked. As for the cravings- some good suggestions there and may I also add exercise to the list? Whatever floats your boat (walking, running, swimming, jumping up & down, it all helps). That, and having a constant supply of icey water to sip on.

May your second week fly by and keep posting so we know how you're doing. Well done indeed! :)

Thanks everyone for your kind words, and tips. Indeed, I have found a good reason to re-acquaint myself with Sherbert Lemons!

One thing I will ask, as it is hump day and the weekend is on my mind.........

What can I do in terms of socialising with friends who smoke? I am meeting friends this weekend and it has long been a habit and I suppose part of the evening to nip out between drinks for a cigarette. Obviously I don't want to cut off ties with friends just because they smoke, but are there any tips for resisting the temptation?

They're forecasting high winds this weekend, so they may not be popping out too often :)

Welcome from me too Smokey. Very well done on your quit so far.

For the first two and a half months of my quit this time, I didn't drink at all. I just didn't trust myself not to smoke. That said I don't drink very much anyway so it wasn't a big deal for me. And again, this is probably not a very popular option!

I stood outside with friends who smoke over Christmas and it was fine. Although one of my non-smoking friends who was there had seen a poster which said "if I see you smoking I will assume you are on fire and act accordingly". She's quite crazy so probably would have thrown a bucket of water over me!

Hi smokey and welcome from me as well.

Big well done on getting this far.... I would agree with a few comments already, I would go and tell them all that you have stopped smoking, and stay inside when they nip out for one (I have found telling everyone I know gives me more support to stay on the straight and narrow); or just do not go at all if you think you might be risking it for a biscuit!

Just think of the end game here, not smoking ever. Do whatever it takes to keep this excellent form up sir!
