Hi All, I've been a lurker here for a while trying to get inspiration and find it amazing how well some of you have done! Been trying to quit a lot over the last few months but always end up smoking again after a few days, decided it's now time to take it seriously, smoked for 9 years (since I was 15), I've been smoking 20 a day recently and it's at a point where everything seems to revolve around smoking (first wake up, after meals, breaks at work, always in the smoking area on nights out). Had my last cigarette last night which will be my last :).

Nice to meet you Danny and well done for making one of the best decisions in life, to breakaway from the slavery of smoking, what aids are you using or are you going cold turkey? Hope today goes well for you any problems please post we have all been there :) xxx

Thank you! You all seem really supportive which will help :), I'm going cold turkey, I've found that chewing gum helps a lot so going to stick with that!

Welcome Danny from me too. Many congratulations on your decision to quit. I promise you'll never regret it. :)

I've said it before and will say it again- you couldn't be in a better place for support, companionship, advice and sheer enthusiasm. There isn't anything that someone on the forum hasn't experienced at some point and there isn't anyone on the forum who won't do everything in their power to help you along on your journey.

Read, post, jump in, and I shall look forward to hearing how things are going for you. I have utter admiration for anyone who can quit CT. I know I couldn't have done it.

Well done Danny, and may your journey be an easy one. :D

Hi Danny and welcome. :p

Best of luck on your quit. Don't think too much about your past attempts just stay focused on now.... one hour, day, week, month at a time. You can do this.

congrats on deciding to quit...no time like the present as they say!

im also a cold turker:D I found chewing gum to be a massive help also, and haribo sweeties in my desk at work with the soft mint or whatever bag of junk I could find at the corner shop that looked appetising:D, infact I have memories of those haribo rings being on my fingers as i typed away!...I am a sweetie monster, better than smoking though:p The sports water bottle works a treat also and I remember someone suggesting frozen grapes which are lush:)
