Hi everyone

This is my story so far....

On Tuesday 23rd September I was thinking of doing Stopoctber and was registering online. Had run out of fags on that morning and thought to myself why am I going to smoke for another week when I could stop now?

So I gave it a try and did my first full day without smoking for a very long time!!

I am now 2 weeks smoke free going cold turkey and I have surprised myself tbh

For me getting myself in the right mind set has been crucial - no more excuses, no more 'emergency fags - just in case I get desperate' etc etc.

I'm not saying this has been easy and there is a very long road ahead but I feel great that I am finally in control! Must say tho that reading all the stories on this forum have been a great help and a true inspiration so glad I found it - not sure I could have done it without you. Anyway onwards and upwards - just taking it one day at a time but determine to do this.

Welcome Gilly and well done on the two weeks.

You're totally right, once your mind is in the right place the body just follows along obediently. That's definitely where the forum helped me, it kept the task in hand right at the front of my brain, also saved me boring my OH stupid!:D

Hi Gilly, good for you on your two weeks sometimes when it's spontaneous it just sticks :) really nice to see you on here look forward to your future posts. Xx

Thanks Donna good in one way that my quit was spontaneous but scary in another way. Did spend day 4 thinking 'oh I didn't prepare for this' that little devil on my shoulder saying ' why don't u have start again so u can prepare to stop??' Over that feeling now and prepared if it returns again - that little devil is going to get a right hander lol x

Thanks Jenny as I said before this forum has been a great help. Whenever I have wavered and that's been quite a few times I've logged on and read lots of great posts that have made me realise I'm not alone.

Hi Gilly and very well done. Two weeks cold turkey is brilliant and you sound as though you have the determination to get through. Good luck :):)

Gilly, all I can say is that I hold in awe anyone who can go cold turkey successfully. I know I couldn't have done it myself and you deserve massive amounts of back-slapping to have come this far all on your own. If you can do that you'll go all the way to the Penthouse in great style I think.

A big welcome to the forum from me and please accept my humble congratulations on what you have achieved. :)
