So sorry to hear about the legend who took his own life ...may be the reasons only he knew off....he was dealing with addiction too and here I want to point one or two things ....To me all addiction have same roots but may manifest with different chemicals or habits....so grossly what applies on one type addiction applies to others too...... during one of his interview with Diane Sawyer in 2006 he mentioned about his relapse, you can watch the clip here
And to avoid this you have to make this to yourself very clear that you will not let it happen to you at any cost. For example, I have imagined all those scenarios in which I would ask myself to lets just have ONE....e.g. partying with old friends, shifted to new house, some great news, some worst news, getting bored to death, about 10 friends at once asking you to smoke only for once, for their sake, just to have fun together, found new girl/boy friend who understand me and I am so happy, lost someone who understood me ...blah blah....so just keep your scanarios already in your mind and always be ready ....I have told myself, I HAVE FINISHED MY QUOTA, AND NOW I'M NOT ALLOWED TO SMOKE EVEN IF I AM DEAD"

he was one of my favourite actors and i know he struggled with alot of health problems being famous has alot more pressures on you as a person i would hate to have cameras pointed at me everytime i was seen in public and then people making up stories because i wasnt 100 perfect
he made millions laugh through out his career but my fav role of his was mork mainly because it made my mum laugh think it was the first programme i liked that she did too

Had he really? I didn't realise that I must say with him being 63 years old I find it even more sad... It's quite unusual to hear of older people committing suicide.....like u say though the demons finally got the better of him, I hope he is at peace now I really do x

Addiction and health problems
During the late 1970s and early 1980s, Williams had an addiction to cocaine.[4][100] Williams was a close friend of and frequent partier alongside John Belushi. He said the death of his friend and the birth of his son Zak prompted him to quit drugs and alcohol: "Was it a wake-up call? Oh yeah, on a huge level. The grand jury helped too."[4]
Williams started drinking alcohol again in 2003, while working in a small town in Alaska.[100] On August 9, 2006, he checked himself in to a substance-abuse rehabilitation center in Newberg, Oregon. He later said that he was an alcoholic.[101] His publicist delivered the announcement:
[INDENT] After 20 years of sobriety, Robin Williams found himself drinking again and has decided to take proactive measures to deal with this for his own well-being and the well-being of his family.[102]
[/INDENT] While acknowledging his failure to maintain sobriety, Williams would never return to use of cocaine, declaring in a 2010 interview:
[INDENT] "No. Cocaine – paranoid and impotent, what fun. There was no bit of me thinking, ooh, let's go back to that. Useless conversations until midnight, waking up at dawn feeling like a vampire on a day pass. No."[103]
[/INDENT] Williams was hospitalized in March 2009 due to heart problems. He postponed his one-man tour in order to undergo surgery to replace his aortic valve.The surgery was successfully completed on March 13, 2009, at the Cleveland Clinic.[
