A gym membership!

I stepped on the scales Wednesday and cried - at 5'7" I am now over 14 stone and officially obese rather than overweight - so, I bit the bullet and signed up at curves - now I just have to ditch the plonk and the mahoosive dinners - note to self, the only thing I'm giving up is being a chubby ex-smoker and becoming a fit and healthy non smoker :D If I can lay off the cigs, I'm sure I can do this sherv.net/cm/emoticons/gym/...

Thanks Hun, I have my first official session on Tuesday, I had a go on all the machines today and was totally puffed out, but I know I won't get bored, there are about 10 different machines, each working a slightly different muscle group, and bouncy boards in between that you jog/starjump/jig - you do each thing for 30 seconds and you have a little digital thingy where you record all your stats so you can see your fitness progress - you do it in a circuit and there were lots of ladies there all of different shapes and sizes so I didn't feel like the fatty in the elite gym - they give you diet and lifestyle advice too - they do do a zumba night and legs bums and tums too so I should be fully occupied

I'm not sure if I'm worse or better than you Jen. Only 5' 4'' but was 12stone last Monday does the two stone make up the 4'' ???

I fear that I'm also now classed as obese!

I know what you mean though, you hide your head in the sand for a so long but then it suddenly hits you.

I've been good this week and managed to get back on my stepper which was being used as a clothes horse:mad: so hopefully will have lost a couple of pounds on Monday ready for Jen's weigh in.

You are right if we can quit smoking. Diet and exercise will be much easier.:D

OH Jen but 4 stone of that is your massive heart. I think the drink and big portions could be addressed thats probably the biggest problem. My daughter is doing the herbal life diet its easy to do and she is looking really good x

Are you just trying to make me cry again;) Unfortunately I am one of those people where it's all or nothing, I own an exercise bike, a Nordic walker and a body blade - I am 50% following the GI Diet but my biggest issue is motivation, portion control and the plonk - I never used to drink but I have always had a massive appetite - I used to be one of those sickening people who literally could eat what they wanted and not put on an ounce - unfortunately an office job and a huge appetite do not go together - especially now that I am finding it too tempting not to have at least one glass of plonk a night :o I think getting that shock was the boot up the bum I needed to get active again :D xxx

Jen, do try the 5:2 diet, it's easy to follow and sustainable, unlike most diets

KK;)

I've looked at it KK but I'm such a greedy sod I would never manage the 2 days :o

Yeah I'm like that, all or nothing. I go from eating anything that's not fast enough to avoid my grasp to weighing food and nibbling on carrots.

I have serious issues with portions as well. My plates are far too big and I can't seem to cook just enough. I have to cook twice as much as we need and then i go back for seconds.

But at the moment I have myself in check.:D
