Off to Devon for a weekend away with my friend and our children... Bit worried about getting tipsy and giving in to smoking.... This is one of my best friends who I can sit for hours chatting and drinking wine with and before 11 days ago smoked with too.... Gonna have to dig deep I think cos I won't be able to come on here for support....

You'll be fine girl. Just tell yourself you are not smoking no matter what happens, make sure you have NRT to hand, put your troubles behind you, pour a drink, have a lovely, lovely time and tell us all about it afterwards.

I had a weekend like this with my brother and his OH who both smoke and yeah I've sat and smoked with them for years. I did some visualisation before I got there and it really helped. I was VERY sceptical but desperate to hold onto my quit so tried it.

I imagined myself sitting with them, drink in hand and I watched him reach for his tin and light a smoke.

I found it helped to prepare me for the temptation. Each time I saw it, my brain screamed 'oh give me one of those' but every time I just squashed the thought as ridiculous and when I was actually sat with them, it was second nature to resist the urge and much easier than the first time I'd imagined it.

Give it a go, you never know.
