Hello Tracey I smoked for 41/42 years so if I can do it anybody can do it. Quitting has got to be a desire not a nice to have you must get tore in about it.
Luckily I'm familiar with another organisation which has 2 large A's in its abbreviated name and it's not a motoring organisation and I used their maxim " if you don't take the first one you won't desire another"
No more pontificating from Michael let's all get tore in about and resign smoking to the history books.

I'm here, too. There is no way that I could have quit without this place. I don't post much now.....sadly I was put off doing so by something that was said a month or so back. However, I visit the site every day and post occasionally, if I feel it may be of any use or to congratulate a particularly mega milestone having been reached.

Stopped again 15 days ago and am really struggling again.
Not posting because at the moment am unable to give back and don't want to be here as as someone who looks for support but cannot offer it back.
Further into my quit I would hope to be more active.

That's what the forum is here for just to support when deeded . It's not about giving anything back.

Gilly, if you need support, then POST! There will be plenty of opportunity for you to offer support to others when you are more confident in your own quit. Blimey, I lived on here for the first few months! :eek: Sometimes it helped just to post a load of waffle about how I was feeling! Please don't be afraid to post........the forum can be a real life line.

Gilly we do not give to receive, if you need help and support - post, we are a support forum not a market place and unfortunately we are not mind readers so unless we know you are struggling we can't help. I relied on this place so much for the first six months of my quit, I don't think I'd be where I am now without the fantastic members here - once you have "settled" into your quit then you can support and advise, it's all about baby steps 
and one step at a time xx

I'm here, Once I feel ready I might try helping others as you have all helped me, but now all I am doing is staying focused on quitting - kinda selfish but at this moment it's Working for me.

Everything you write, both to describe your positive and your negative experiences, will inspire someone behind you on the road to freedom to keep on going. Knowing that someone else has had bad days as well as good days is so important especially early in a quit.
You give every bit as much as you take if not more, and don't you ever think otherwise.

I don't post anymore (apart from now obviously as other stuff has come to the fore, although I'm aware that I really should as without this forum I may have caved in. I do still lurk and read the stories aboot once a week though and silently cheer people on (in my head everyone can hear me cheering, how stoopid is that! haha).
I don't really think about smoking any more and on the rare occation I do it makes me laugh for some reason :confused:. I also find myself crossing the road when someone ahead of me is smoking as it makes me feel a bit sick. Hope everyone is good and I still doff my cap to everyone who has managed to kick the evil weed

Been just over 2 1/2 years now. Gave up the day my first grandson was born. Decided he was never going to know that his nannie smoked. I wanted to be able to cuddle and kiss him without wondering if I smelt ot not

I think (could be wrong). But it may help others if you post now and again.
It's great to read posts that are positive. Not every one suffers withdrawal symptoms, so that would make a fantastic post for those thinking of trying to quit,...... I like the fact that for some it's hard and for some easier, but would be so helpful to know people that have quit are doing so relatively easy.
We need all kinds of posts, so people can see sometimes it's just not so bad.!
