Day 9... still here

I probably sound like a grumpy, miserable, stressed, zero will-powered bloke... but when does this get easier!

Day 9 now and I honestly don't feel any better then day 1!

I went 18 days last year and seriously don't remember it being like this.

Im not sleeping that great, feel crap and just generally want to smoke 24/7.

There has been the occasional few hours where everything is ok and then BOOM, all I want to do is jump off the nonsmoking wagon and chain about 40 fags.

How can I view my posts from last year, it might help to read them and remember this sh!t is normal.

Hi Rustler - your over a week now, that first week is the worst and it only gets better and better.

Why don't you read through some of the post from people who are a bit further on, you will see there is light at the end of the tunnel and it will give you that motivation to keep going.

Pat yourself on the back - your doing great :)

Rustler, I wrote the following in response to your first ever post in January 2013, I don't think much has changed really (apart from the fact that I'm now 2 years and 2 months quit :D) ...

Welcome to the forum Rustler :)

At 10 years smoking you're a mere amateur compared to many of us, but you are an addict.

There are going to be ups and downs and there may be side effects.

Whilst everyone has different physical reactions to quitting, many, many people have some or all of the following...

A temporary period of sleep disruption (possibly as long as 1-2 months or more)

Weight gain

Bleeding gums

Feelings of anxiety, loss, depression, restlessness, boredom and bad temper etc.

Sore throat

A lack of concentration

There are probably more, but these are common and nothing to worry about in the short term.

I'm not trying to put you off, I'm trying to prepare you for what to expect.

Forewarned is forearmed and all that.

None of it is too uncomfortable and all of it is beatable. There are plenty of long term quitters on here which prove that.

Just take it 1 day or 1 hour at a time if you have to. Keep saying that you'll stay smoke free for 1 hour or 1 day more etc.

It's surprising how you start to rack up the days and weeks.

Will there be wobbles? Yes. Can you beat them? Yes.

I felt like you during the early days of my quit and experienced a few of the side effects I mentioned earlier.

In 3 weeks I will have completed 1 year and I know I will never smoke again.

You too can do it, good luck to you. :D

Hi Rustler, your ahead of me on day nine, as I quit then re smoked, back on track now.

For me reading the post by Captan is true, a day at a time, it seem to really help, instead of thinking long term , that's to scary to contemplate .

Your doing great on day nine into week two brilliant:):):)

Keep reading and posting, the very vast amount of knowledge on here is not to be under estimated, it's a very powerful forum. With great long term quitters, who always give great advice.!

Look forward to reading your posts:)

I'm sure there's an easier way but that's how I do it to re-read my favourite ones.

Please stick with it. The light is at the end of the tunnel but you just don't know how many minutes, hours, days you are away from it. It could be that tomorrow will be the day that gets easier for you. It could be this afternoon.

I know it's a tough battle at the moment but it will be worth it.

Hi Rustler, hang in there it does get easier, it really does.... Capitans post is spot on ;)

Hello Rustler.

Congratulations on day 9... oh day 10 now.

As already has been said, it does get easier.

Stick with it you're doing great. :)

Hey Lewis,

You cannot quit on me now, I have only just begun and I would like to keep sight of you just ahead of me. Email me later if you like, I will be around all night. That's your weak point I see ( the evenings) lol.

You got through it last night, we can make sure you do again. Hit me up if you want.... ;)

Thanks everyone!

Day 10 nearly over and I made it through without killing anyone. Feeling very pleased with myself.

Ready to smash day 11.

So good to see you back on here Sherri.
