Hi Everyone, it's a new day 1 for me today. I was here last year and managed to quit for about 3 months. I stupidly decided that 1 cigarette was what was needed one day and I was back. What an idiot!! I have thought about stopping everyday since but I just couldn't seem to find the strength. I know that I want to be smoke free and I know that if I don't quit now then my health is in serious danger but I'm feeling vulnerable. I really need some support with this. I know the first few days are the hardest so I am just going to take it a day/hour at a time for now. X

Oh yes I to stopped for 3 months lat year, is there something about the no 3?.

It is slightly scary the thought of not smoking, but somehow I do hope you manage to get by those first difficult days.

Keep reading and posting it is a HUGE help to all including me! :)

Good to meet you Olive and can I second what Jenny said.

Us January Freedom Fighters are entering/getting through that very dangerous 3 month mark.

I know I've failed before because of crazy logic that says:

'You don't actually need one now so it's ok to have one'

and there you are back in the pit.

Thanks for the timely warning and I hope today goes quickly for you.

Hi - I am also back after falling for 'just the one' trick! Managed 7 weeks back in September, went on holiday and blew it.....big time

Anyway, Im back with 7 days under my belt. Have be lurking for a while and building up to so here it goes!!! Inspiration this time was having a chest infection, did the classic smokers thing of carrying on puffing away and then had my light bulb moment sitting on the balcony, coughing my lungs up.

Fingers crossed the light bulb stays on this time round - feeling determined!

Bevalor, I'll be thinking about you!! One day at a time. Keep occupied and plan some strategies for overcoming those tough times. I'm about 1/2 way through my first day. Think I'll have an early night tonight to get it over with!! It's not been too bad. Obviously getting cravings but trying to focus on other things and telling myself that the feeling will pass soon. xx

Well that's day 1 over with (thank God)! It's quite a stressful time at the moment and I could murder a cigarette right now but I'm not going to have one. There will always be an excuse as to why I need a smoke but in reality there is no excuse. Having a cigarette is not going to change my situation right now so I will just have to learn to find alternative, 'healthier' stress busters. Grrrrrrr!!!!!

Thank you for listening today - I'm off to bed. xxx
