After loads of failed attempts, I got myself down to my local GP, and asked for this 'Champix' that everyone's talking about. Surprise, surprise, she agreed to it!
So now I'm on day 4 of the treatment. Not stopped yet...Monday is the big day, but I'm definitely smoking less. So come Monday, I'll be looking to join a team...and looking forward to it!
Well done to all the non smokers...keep up the great work!
PS...Great site. Inspiration and encouragement galore!

Good luck for Monday - I too stopped smoking on Day 10 of Champix
I found the ciggies I had on Days 8 and 9 make me feel oh so sick
Not everyone is the same though I thought I'd mention it
I have been quit for 3 Weeks, 5 Days, 10 hours, 49 minutes and 4 seconds (26 days). I have saved £132.24 by not smoking 529 cigarettes. I have saved 1 Day, 20 hours and 5 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 17/02/2008 22:00
Well...today I've lit up twice...both of which were disgusting! The strange thing is...I've not really felt like lighting up, it seems to me it's more habit than anything else. Strange! Anyway, it's early days, but I think the heavier dose is doing something! Long may it continue.
Being a relative 'newbie' to the forum, please excuse my ignorance! I notice that the majority of forum users are able to post the hours they have quit, the cigs they haven't smoked, the money they have saved...etc. Can some kind soul tell me where that comes from. Is there a quit counter somewhere?
Just download it and press Ctr+F12 and it'll show in your post like this:
I have been quit for 3 Weeks, 5 Days, 20 hours, 46 minutes and 19 seconds (26 days). I have saved £134.32 by not smoking 537 cigarettes. I have saved 1 Day, 20 hours and 45 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 17/02/2008 22:00
Thanks for that Barbara. I'll download that in readiness for my last light up, which is tomorrow night...thats if I manage to keep lighting up till then. Wow...these Champix play havoc with your taste buds. It's enough to put you off smoking!
