Hey, I am Rory and have quit smoking for 10 days now. I smoked for 5 years and had 10-15 a day (unless I was out drinking!).
Anyway, I read the 'Easy way to stop smoking' by Allen Carr and since i finished it I have found it really easy to quit smoking. I know it sounds ridiculous that a book can make you quit smoking - I thought the exact same and everyone laughed at the thought of me quitting especially by reading a book, but I am laughing now! Yes its only been 10 days but I am sure I won't need to have another one again because I have found quitting (as the book says) easy. I read a few other peoples posts here and sounds like they are having a tough time, can't say the same for me thankfully.
I even tested myself to the extreme the other night - I went out for dinner and drinks then went clubbing with a few other mates who are all smokers. I admit watching them smoke away made me feel a little tempted but then i just remembered how pointless smoking is and thought about the guilt I would feel if I did light one up and carried on with my night, no worries... Plus I told them to hit me in the nuts if they saw me smoking, which they happily agreed to do, but luckily I got through the night without a cig and my nuts still intact and I'm still going strong.
So why have i joined here? Just to compare how I am doing with other quitters and perhaps try and help a few people while I'm at it.

Your post is wonderful and it's great to have a mix of people here. People who find it easy, folk who find it hard. Cold turkiers and nicotine replacementers. I'll stop now before I make up any more words.
