Help, when does the weight gain stop? I'm really trying to watch what I eat but I seem to be so much hungrier now. I'm just 6 months stopped and have gained one and a half stones:mad:
The general consensus appears to be focus on the smoking and deal with the weight afterwards, so that's what I have done. The only thing now is I can't seem to stop eating and I seem to have developed a sweet tooth. Is anyone else having this problem 6 months plus. I can understand the first few months but don't seem to recall on past quits it lingering this long.
So, apart from getting a bacon slicer has anyone any tips on how to stop this hunger feeling, and the need for sweet goodies
Thanks Margie

Hi Margie60 - yes, eating too much is a problem when we stop smoking. For me, the only thing that stopped me from eating far too much was drinking loads of water. It makes you feel full. Also, eating heaps of fruit and vegetables, I've found, does not put on the weight.
I think I started to be able to control my eating more once I'd been stopped about 6 months. Don't worry - it does get better as you get used to stopping the hunger pangs.

Thanks, I did say I would secure a 6 month quit before I started a diet, and I have made a few half hearted attempts but I do seem to have replaced cigs with food. Unfortunately it was with sweet food, cake, biscuit and chocolate, I never ate that much sweet stuff before. Anyhow I'm sure if I can deal with the cig thoughts then I can learn to deal with the food ones too.
Have 2 sisters living in Aussie, one in Perth and one in Canberra so know the heat problems you have just been dealing with. Hope it's cooler for you tomorrow
