So, I'm really annoyed with myself after 5 weeks of not smoking, I caved in! Here comes my excuse as I see it...I'm due to get married in 3 months and was desperate to quit before my big day, my dress fitting day was upon me and I felt and smelt lovely...till I tried on my dress. I had put on 9lbs in those weeks and I could feel it. Off home I went for a good cry and caved. I have since lost that weight again but feel very disappointed in myself and really want to try again. Does anyone have any advice, will patches help with weight gain, should I wait till the weddings over...I just see another day of smoking as a day off my life span!
Wedding/Weight Gain vs Smoking!: So, I'm... - No Smoking Day
Wedding/Weight Gain vs Smoking!
Hi
I am paranoid about weight gain but I have noticed that the days when I have my patch on I do not feel as hungry as the days when I leave it off!
As nicotine is an appetite suppresant this must be the reason?
I think I have put on about 5-6lbs in 5 weeks of giving up smoking, I seem to have reached a plateau (hopefully!).
Good luck!
I totally get where you're coming from Haylee...this weight gain is just the absolute pits...especially if you're wanting to get the weight down befor getting married.
I think that NRT does help combat the weight gain to some degree - it certainly helps with appetite control. So your plan of using a patch until the wedding may well work.
Don't forget as well, that you will likely lose weight in the few weeks before the wedding - I certainley did and so do many other brides-to-be that I know.
I was a smoker when I got married 2.5 years ago - and looking back, I really wish I had given up before then...there I was all dolled up, in a beautiful dress, feeling like a princess - and puffing away like a 'fag ash lil' - nice (NOT). So even using a patch or whatever - at least you won't be smoking then and you will be so grateful afterwards.
Good luck with the quit - and all the best for the wedding!

I exercise for about 40 mins everyday on my elliptical, I have a toddler so find other than walking I don't have the support to get to a gym/swim.
