Man v Fags: Day 1

Hi Folks,

Well, I'm 19 hours into day one.

Incredibly, even this teeny tiny amount of time is the longest

I've been "smoke-free" for at least 20 years

Go me!

I say "smoke-free" not "nicotine-free", because I'm (so far)

completely reliant on my three crutches: Nicquitin patches,

the Nicorette mist spray thingamajig...

...and you guys.

I must confess: I'm having frequent cravings...which I guess

are more habitual than withdrawal-related, given the NRT.

I don't know whether it helps being at work or not, to be honest,

but I'm not (yet) as grumpy as I thought I'd be...although I'm

certainly expecting the cravings to become more frequent/intense

in the coming days.

All in all, so far so good. See you on Day 2 :D

As always, thanks for your support (special thanks to **Karri**

for your PMs, and debbieh for your message!)

Cheers,

Steve

Keep up the good work steve!

Good luck Steve!

The minutes turn to hours, hours to days, days to weeks and weeks to months very quickly, I promise!! I am at week 8 and quite frankly I cannot believe it. Some days are very very very long but I can easily spend an hour on this forum to distract myself. I also like the My Last Cigarette app and have discovered rescue remedy pastilles - my new best friends!

Good luck!

Xx

Well done Steve :)

You're doing really, really well. NRT helps to make the cravings and withdrawal generally more manageable but it still hurts like Hell. But you WILL get through it. I know it's a cliche but nevertheless I think it's true to say that if I can do it anyone can do it. Honest.

A Million Thanks

Blimey!

I wasn't expecting so many replies, lol.

In fact, I was having a bit of a 'wobbly moment' and thought I'd just pay a visit and 'reboot' my mind reading some inspirational threads.

Turns out I didn't have to look any further than my own little post to get a massive dose of motivation!

To each and every one of you who have taken the time to post here to support and encourage this virtual stranger.....bless you!

You've made my day, and even better: you've pushed me into Day 2.

I can't thank you enough. Group hug? :)

Go Go Freedom Fighters!!
