You say day one again how many times have you tried, listen I smoked 30 odd a day for 43 years and if I can pack it up anyone can,you have to dig deep, and fight it to start with,no pain no gain, don't know weather you are cold turkey ,patches ,champix, which I went on to start with ,and found thet really help, but made me feel a bit sick ,so after cutting them in half ,after two weeks ,and the taking half dosage for two weeks ,I stopped taking them ,I've now been 7 weeks since I had my last fag,and still get the odd craving ,but you have to stay focused ,so come on buck your ideas up ,and you to can be an x smoker, good luck:)

Hi Punch

I was you 8 months ago today, many many failed attempts, but back again on Day 1, feeling apprehensive, but determined and guess what....... here I am 8 months later:)

I wish you all the best as you embark on your quit journey. Baby steps:)

You can do it

Hi. It doesn't matter how many failed attempts in the past. This is NOW!!! And this is all that matters. If you need patches, gum, nasal spray, whatever, use them and go for it.It will be tough whatever method you use, but you can do it. I smoked 20 per day for 40 years and it is now 33 days smoke free . You will not believe how much better you will feel after only a short time. My carbon monoxide reading went from 69 to 2 in only 2weeks, my blood pressure is now normal, I sleep better and I'm a whole lot richer, so it is worth the pain. I wish you all the luck in the world. Love Jonno

Thanks for support chaps. I have lost count how many times I've tried but I know I can do it as went 7myths last time before caving....not this time. Had a health scare, grandchild on the way, daughter getting married so I need to be healthy ....finally I feel I have sufficient reasons to do this. Using patches and inhalation and a big tub of lollipops. Nearly through day 1!!!!:)

Punch, welcome to the forum. You have a significant quit under your belt already - ultimately it was a failed quit but you were free of the addiction for long enough to see the positives of not smoking - improved health, wealth and wellbeing (I know as I also blew a long term successful quit at just under a year :(). That's a great positive to take into your new quit - you know the benefits. You also know how to blow it - 'just one won't hurt' - a very familiar tale to us all:o

You've come to a great place to help bolster your quit - there is a mine of information on the forum to help you understand and beat your addiction, as well as a great support network to vent your thoughts when the going gets tough!

Doesn't matter how many attempts it takes, one of them will stick. Try & remember how it felt to break the last ones & use them as practice runs for the real one.

That's what i'm doing.

got through day 1

Woke up today feeling very worried mornings my worst time, cleaned kennels, trimmed three dogs, Fed our 20 dogs, Fed myself......morning survived. Lunchtime puff avoided. Trimmed two dogs and sent hubby to shops to avoid temptation and bathed two more dogs. Now pooped ans crashed with tea and lollipop. Only after dinner time to get through and home dry for day 2 .....feel I'm doing ok :)

One of the things that helped me most with my quit was this forum even though I was not actively involved in it.

I'm now in month four but only started posting today but for weeks I would read everything that's been posted here:)

Using the forum made me feel less miserable I knew that others were in the same boat as me.
