:D I never thought I could do it! Day 10 bring it on- I embrace you.
So much good advice from this forum has helped me. the view of escaping from the control of nicotine rather than giving up smoking ( giving up always sounds like you are sacrificing something) N.O.P.E not one puff ever, that has often/always been my downfall in the past- complacency thinking I can manage to have one puff or just that one gigarette to be 'social' HAAA that's a laugh, why did I ever feel that it was sociable to go outside to smoke while missing out on something that was happing/being talked about to then comeback in absolutely stinking:confused:
My reason for giving up was 'it was the right time for me' also spurred on by an operation next Tuesday and was worried that they would refuse to do it with a rattly chested smelly person that sounded rougher that which ever horse run the national yesterday.
THANK YOU massively to everyone of you that has replied to any of my posts and for all the posts that i read that encourage me. xx

It's great when you get into double figures, and you've definitely got the right attitude to stay quit
The "escaping" thing comes from Allen Carr originally (think i might have said it to you - not sure) but it's true, and it really does get your mind in the right place to stop.
It is easy to think of it as losing something, but you aren't, you're gaining in all ways by not smoking any more
I hope your operation goes well - not smoking will definitely help there too 'cos you heal faster!!
Cheers guys! It could very well have been you Gemma that mentioned escaping to me. I have the Allen Carr book on my bedside table but havent had time to get past the first few chapters- it is there for when i need it though.
Max, I you always write such strong, powerful messages ( think I would be scared if I slipped )
We are not at home to failure...but if you fail, climb on and try again-and again until you do it-like Vicki,if you keep trying you can do it
This place is about helping each other to escape the curse of smoking-and even though I say it,we do it very very well here
It works too
There were times that the only thing between me and smoking was having to admit it on here. Friends and family would just chalk it up to "oh she failed again" but it seemed worse admitting it on here if I had failed.
aww thanks Max This place makes you feel strong enough and confirms what you already know at the back of your mind. It helps to kick the feeling of a craving into touch, to take each minute , hour or day as it comes and to rejoice when you realise you have been somewhere or done something and not thought about a ciggie for an hour or more

Have you seen that film by the way?
I havent even told my family yet ( most of them live miles away- obviously hubby and my kids know and my close friends) so there will be oh she's failed again!
No havent seen Cat's Eyes. what sort of film is it? With my shoulder in a sling next week I may be watching lots of TV/films. any good recommendations gratefully received

It's a collection of short Stephen King stories, think there's 4 of them in there - not a bad film and it should be cheap!!
In some ways Trea that is the most delicious feeling of all, confounding the sceptics some people just have decided that you will always fail, how good is it to prove them wrong and see their expressions
It's great I just know my dad gave me about a week before lighting up again and I'm a few days short of 17 weeks now!!
