I'm on Day 4 of the starter pack of Champix. I don't feel any less desire for

a cigarette yet. Really want this to work. Any advice or tips greatly

appreciated.

Hi Norma

I was a Champix taker too. Gradually over that first 10 days or so I was wanting to smoke less and less, so I gave up on day 8 though I was set for day 10 of taking it. I didn't take the full dose or the full course because it made me feel terribly sick all the time whether I took it with food or not. It did the trick though cos I am 7 months quit now.

Good luck with your quit. Hope it works as well for you as it did for me. x

What he said, and what she said :)

I took the Champix route as well, and I also didn't complete the course - just felt I'd cracked it well before the end of the twelve weeks. Don't worry if it hasn't kicked in after four days - it will!

Of course it's not a silver bullet and it does require total commitment - never forget you're a recovering addict, never think 'just one' will be OK - it won't!, especially not weeks and months down the line when you're feeling confident that you've got it cracked. That's just how my last serious quit ultimately failed - and those of countless others.

I wish you well on your journey to freedom. Champix will give you a 'kick start' to break the addiction - with the right mindset (never take another puff) you cannot fail!

Hello and good luck with your quit.

I'm currently on day 23 of taking Champix and stopped smoking on day 12. I didn't ever start to hate the smell of smoking. My main thing was not receiving any enjoyment from having a cigarette. I would start to light one up and throw it away after a few draws.

The biggest thing is just changing your routine. You know you usually have a cigarette at certain times but it really is pretty straight-forward to say no. Like a previous poster says it really does blunt the cravings.

Today is my 11th day of not smoking so you're not much behind me !
