I have been taking Champix for 39 days and have quit smoking for 30 days, I feel I can manage on my own now.
Has anyone just stopped taking Champix, and if so was there any withdrawals, or do people wean themselves off them, ie only take one a day and then half. Any advice appreciated

Jane, sorry babe I've got no experience of this whatsoever. I'd say get rid ASAP but that's by no means a qualified opinion, just a reflection of my own desire to get rid of everything associated with smoking as quickly as possible. Hence CT. Max's suggestion about cutting down seems sensible though, how do you feel about that?? We're with you come what may.... Don't do anything rash but for what it's worth I think you're right to be thinking about it.

Also...big up you. What a week, well done for bursting through as you have, sign of strength Hun.
Thanks Hawk and Kat, that sounds like sound advice. I will cut the evening one in half and see how I go, so I will have 1mg morning and 0.5 mg evening, then after a week reduce the morning one to 0.5mg. Is there an easy way to cut those pesky tabs in half? I will keep you updated as to how I feel.
Hi Janeiesane When I came off Champix I felt no different at all. I think I was on them for about 3 months - I just did what the instructions recommended.
I think they are designed so that towards the end they have a lower dose anyway. However if you've taken them differently, and are on full strength I would certainly recommend weaning off them. I say that because under the clinical trials, weaning occurred - hence, that's the only way they've been tested & it's probably better not to vary that.
If you're still using the full strength then I'd be cutting them in half. All the best.
Thanks Nonica, I'm still on full dose, and my Dr hasn't mentioned anything about weaning me off, but I am only just half way through the 3 month course, and feel ready, but do not want to undo all the work that has been done so far.
I only stayed on the full strength for two weeks then dropped back to one pill a day, which I bite in half in the morning and keep the other half for the evening. I'm planning on dropping back to half a pill a day for the final couple of weeks so there's no abrupt stop.
I took them for about 6 weeks and then just stopped them. I didn't have any ill effects but I would still se your smoking cessation nurse just to be on the safe side. Champix for me were great!
I don't have a smoking cessation nurse, how do you get one of them, and what do they do?
They are attached to your doctors surgery, I saw one when I decided to quit and she reccomended I try Champix. Who prescribed your Champix? The doctor? If so then a trip back to him or as Max says just cut down and then stop them.
Well, I cut back to half tab this morning and half tab this evening, and I feel exactly the same, no craves but still very tired. I know it is only the first day of cutting back but I feel very confident. I will update again in a few days.
Did you have any effects from dropping back to half in morning and half in evening. Did any cravings return?
Sorry for the belated reply, but to answer your question, not had any cravings. Like you, I feel I could probably do without them altogether now, but then again they recommend a three month course for a reason, and I've got them anyway, so I might as well use them.
