Hey Mols, I am glad you knew I would get here, there has been times where I never, but with people like yourself to chat with how can I fail.
Mrs Don (Tracy) is also doing great (Day 18) and my Dad to (Day 8). Great symmetry feel and look to that, with me on Day 28, huh, never noticed that before. WOW Mols, 100, that is AWESOME. I mean it, I am awestruck by you.
Hi Karen
Thanks, and yes we had a great smoke free Christmas. The kids enjoyed it more though I feel. The one thing that really shocked us was when we were visiting relatives on Boxing Day and announced we had quit. There were 4 smokers at the mother-in-laws house and it was just frightening how often they were sparking up. I lent over to Tracy and whispered "did we smoke that much" but of course I knew that we did. That night we had the biggest headache for ages.
For me, the sound of smokers coughing and their gravelly voices is what hit me shortly after I quit, I always knew I smoked so many but I didn't realise I sounded like that! It was a good thing to realise at a good time and helped loads with my resolve. I hope seeing how much your relatives smoked and realising how many you smoked because of it helped with your determination too chuck.
Gemma you will be shocked at just how often they light up, even more shocked when you realise that if you still smoked you would probably be with them every time
lostie, sometimes everyone needs their quiet time and there is nothing wrong with that. Reading activates the mind and turns its attention away from smoking, strangely even when you are writing about smoking, funny that.
Well, my first day into week 5 and now started a lower strength patch, the plan is to keep on taking it off of a night, as now my sleeping is almost that of a normal person. However I am at the moment getting that empty know feeling in my stomach that I haven't felt for a while, but I have got through this before, just have to wait for my body to catch up with my head and realise it aint getting anymore nicotine than that.
Don and Family members. That is just great that you have all quit together and can support one another. You are all doing so well too
OMG I was out with smokers over Christmas and I was also amazed by just how many times they lit up and I also knew that in my smoking days I would have kept up cig for cig. Boy did my clothes stink after being in that smoke.Bleurgh
Ah Becky, totally forgot about the stinky clothes, those that were smoking at the in laws were all confined in a small room (with us penned in) and when it was time to go, we sat in the car and thought I am sure I would of smelt better if I had smoked than not.
Needless to say, we all stripped off as soon as we arrived home (kids included) and the clothes went straight in the wash with probably double the amount of powder than normal and a gallon of softener lol.
But word spread, and possible new quitters on the horizon, we will wait and see though.

Hi Don
It would have been 3 fags so far and you're right I did used to go out whenever someone put their head round the door and asked if I had a few mins to spare - if I actually "needed" one or not. Daft isn't it?
The girl I share an office with is quitting too - we're quit buddies - which definitely helps 'cos most of the others here smoke.
Ooh and I'm so glad you said that about taking the patch off at night!!
Have had to do the same 'cos the nightmares and not sleeping were too much for me to cope with and have been feeling exactly the same first thing as you are - it's a really weird feeling and it's good to know it's a "normal" symptom.
I bet that 3 has by now turned into 6. And now you colleagues return from lunch professing tiredness, where as you have much more energy and smell so much nicer.
Chuffed to hear you have a quit buddy, in the 'real world', it just makes it that tad easier to bear.
You are doing awesome, I can see a huge difference in you from your posts from just a few weeks ago, a great addition to this forum.
Thanks to you and everyone on here for your support too!!
Am on here now when I would have been having a fag - probably number 7 'cos I used to have a couple at lunch most of the time.
That's another thing I'm glad to be rid of - feeling that I have to "load up" on them to "get through" - how flipping sad was that?
Lol, it was pretty fraught in here at the beginning with both of us quitting together (and we share a very small office) but we've really helped each other which is fab

LOL,
I did that also. There are times in the day where I could not physically smoke, so before doing that task I would make myself feel sick by 'nicotining up'.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Ah, how we have changed, lovin it
Don x
Oh I remember that too - and guzzling loads of water after to try to stop feeling weird after smoking too many one after the other
Did that when I was stressed or bored too.
And when I got more fed up with smoking feeling ashamed that I "needed" to do it before I went somewhere or after I'd been inside too long.
